Laid the de icer down after shoveling and a few hours later went out again and removed the melted ice that started to freeze. Would be nice if the product came in more then a 10lb bag. Thus one last 3 days. Started looking for other local products in 25 to 30 buckets.

We do live in the northern climes with plenty of snow and cold temps so there will be ample opportunity to use this bag of ice melt. The only ingredient is magnesium chloride, made in the USA and I assume sourced here. According to the packaging it is safer for pets, the lawn, concrete and decking which is great. I was already in the process of tackling ice on the walkway after the most recent snowfall with another type of snow melt when this one arrived and there were still a few significant ice patches left to deal with. I've applied this one for several days in a row and it's done a reasonably good job in regard to melt with the exception of the thickest iced area where more is still needed. It is definitely less messy in terms of tracking and the directions do say it will work best when applied prior to a snowfall which I tend not to do with constant winter snowfall. In terms of how safe it is there are still warnings and precautions on the bag in case of ingestion, eye or skin contact.The bag has an okay zip lock top and comes with a plastic scoop which may be handy if you're a first timer in the use of ice melt; however, I would personally rather come up with my own scoop method and receive a little more product for the price.

I had a concrete driveway & walkway put in three years ago. I bought this product believing it would be safe for my dog and concrete as indicated. I’ve never used ice melt or salt on my driveway/walkway so I just used very very very little and I kid you not it melted a top layer off my concrete. It was coming up like mud with the snow. Please Do not buy it is not safe for your concrete even using the most minimal amount.

Been living in the US northeast (mostly New England) since 1996. Including living at a place with a long uphill driveway. I have gone through lots and lots (and lots) of ice melt over the years. So much ice melt.Here, functionally, this is top of class. It just works, and works very well. Hard to tell with pets, but with the plow/road salt, there seems to be plenty of 'paw suffering;' with this product, not that I've noticed.There was rain yesterday then frozen rain and snow overnight, very cold. Used this product on the walkway I try to keep clear from the road to the front door for deliveries/visitors, early this morning (i.e., after the snow/ice was on the ground, which is tougher for ice melt). As you can see, it looks good.It works great, but one issue is value. Overall, expensive enough that I couldn't recommend it for large scale applications. But for keeping a walkway clear, or the front steps, or other small-area applications where you 'want the best performance + safe for pets', it makes sense. For example, I will be happy to use this the rest of this winter for keeping my walkway clear.Bonus points for including a functional, sizeable scoop in the bag.

Received my box to find out the bag was not sealed all the way and leaked in the box and also leaked out of the box when I picked it up off of my door step. It was a complete mess.
