You need to put the shovel together but that only takes a few minutes. The shovel itself is heavy and strong, it has the weight exactly where you need it when trying to get under sheets of ice. Has worked well after a few Midwest snowstorms, was happy to have this and not use the snow thrower over ice sheets.

Wow! I was surprised by the quality of this shovel. Putting the pieces together was a bit tricky because the pieces fit in a certain order. Once pieced together the shovel feels like a powerhouse. The shovel stands at about 5 feet, give or take.

Since I've been using this during the snowstorms in Ontario it's been very valuable. I clear the snow first with a standard snow shovel. Then I use this item on the ice. Since I've used it I've hardly had to use ice melter.

After moderate use chipping ice the blade and holder bent and are pulling away from the handle making the item unusable. Very disappointing.

This item arrived exactly as shown on the website.Most of the weight of this ice scraper is in its blade. I think that's a good thing.The scraper comes in 4 pieces, assembled by screwing the handle one into each other. On first try, there was some free play in a couple of the joints that required additional tightening. I'm not sure if this will be an issue over time.I've only had 1 opportunity to use it on ice so far this season. But it works well at separating the ice from the concrete walkway and paved driveway. I had some concern over it marking up the pavement. But keeping it at a low angle seemed to be OK.The weld on the gusset rod between the shaft and the blade has a pretty small cross section. So time will tell if it will be prone to fatigue failure.Overall, it seems like it's something I will be using when we have ice buildup. It does what it's supposed to do.
