We were looking forward to “Pearl Ice†and the wait was worth it! The ice machine produces ice very rapidly and has an auto shut off. It has a scoop and a scoop holder inside the unit for easy in dispensing ice. The machine is quite making a little noise when our drain pump is in use. If you are installing in a basement you will likely need a drain pump which is specifically designed for the unit, but sold separately. We had to have the drain professionally installed, but it works great. If you are in on a level where drainage flows downward naturally you likely won’t have to purchase the drain pump. We love it!

Second one we have owned. 2 people live in home so not heavily used. First lasted 4 years. Second one makes the great ice but after 2 months developed a loud grinding noise when compressor kicks on then stops when ice starts making. Sent email with recording to company 3 weeks ago. Not heard back. Don’t bye. So much for made in Colorado crap. One star for the ice as long as lasts.Update- Do not buy this machine. Horrible company support. It has now been 2 months and many emails since I tried to get some satisfaction from the manufacturer about the grinding noise. No replacement, no repair or help at all, just lots of emails. They keep putting the burden of repair on me the customer for their crappy workmanship. Do not expect any help from these people.Just a lot of time wasting emails. Would advise Amazon to remove them from site. I also contacted their owner corp. the Ali Group North America with no response. Big surprise. I am in Texas, but heading to their Colorado factory this spring with junk machine in back of pickup for face to face answers. All I have left.Please do not make the mistake of buying this machine. It will not last and you will get no help from the manufacturer. End of March and still no resolution to the issues I have with a machine that was less than 90 days old when they started. Just posted to the BBB but this company is not a member so don't expect any help there either.Update-end of June. Was unable to take junk machine back to Colorado in spring due to China virus. It’s still grinding away towards the end of warranty period. No matter, company does not honor it any way. Please save yourself this trouble and do not bye this machine. Contacted there owner Corp, Ali Group, again with same lack of response. I will eventually get to Colorado for a visit with these folks. Y’all be safe and God bless America.

The shipping box looked in good order but the unit was damaged. The damage is mostly cosmetic (door and cabinet), however the screw that holds the back wall of the bin was broken. Please send a replacement part for the bin screw piece, and we will replace it ourselves. A discount for the cosmetic damage will suffice.Also the instructions for the ice maker refers to a blue float valve lever that controls the float in the reservoir. There is no blue lever. TThis is our 3rd ice machine, so I am familiar with how they work, and this one is different, it appears this has been redesigned. The instructions don't match the machine. Can you get us updated instructions please.

Absolutely love sonic ice at home!! We have considered purchasing a nugget ice maker for quite some time during quarantine we decided to go ahead and do it and we have no regrets. This machine is quality made works wonderfully, my husband installed himself he removed A cabinets from our kitchen and install it near the sink. We used the pump that another reviewer recommended. Machine did have a ding in the side and on the front panel I called Amazon and they discounted the price due to the damage. As you can see from the photo the damage is not visible once placed inside the cabinet if you’re thinking of getting an icemaker like this I would definitely go with this one for the price it can’t be beat.

The Ice-O-Matic is really quiet compared to the Hoshizaki I had previously. Production speed is impressive and so was the Hoshizaki's. However, it does not have the Hoshizaki's nifty ice deflector tray that rotates out when the door is opened. This little tray made it very easy to keep the ice from falling on the floor when filling up glasses. The Ice-O-Matic requires a very large glass to accommodate the scoop size opening or requires holding the glass inside the ice compartment (not convenient as one must bend over further to hold both the scoop and glass far inside the icebox). The door is also a bit flimsy in comparison. So, it is very quiet if that's the main concern. If noise is secondary, I'd buy the Hoshizaki with higher quality door, ice deflector tray, and solid tiny cubelet ice compared to the softer "Sonic Ice".

So far, this is the most amazing ice and ice machine. The pearl ice just never stops coming, and we have 2 households taking from it all day, every day! (my sister and her family live next door)... Every one keeps saying how they are finally getting enough water in their lives now because this ice is just sooooo good, that we all just keep on getting some!! The machine works like a dream, and it (so far) has only added .02-.05 cents per hour on my electric bill... $20 to $30 bucks per month max, at this point... Summer still hasn't kicked in yet, and I imagine it might can only be slightly higher, but either way, it's worth the money for this amazing and plentiful ice!!!

We’ve had this ice maker for a couple of years now and it’s ran perfect. No dents in mine. It does run a lot because the nugget ice melts fast and it’s making new. Unsure why the price has nearly doubled though. Was thinking of getting a second one for my office.
