Purchased this for a 2005 Mercury Salt Water series 150hp and this replaced the OEM switch perfectly. Wires are all the same, dimensions are really close but the diameter of this switch is slightly larger. I had to modify my bracket a smidge to get it to fit but it was really easy to do and didn't take much effort. After installing, cranked right up and the automatic electric choke worked as well. And it was half the price of the actually mercury OEM part, so that was nice to save a few bucks, because as we all know, boats are just a hole in the water that you dump money into.

The ignition switch on my Basstracker TX-175 started acting strange and eventually got to where it was questionable if it would start the boat. Replaced it with this one and problem solved. Installation was pretty straight forward, wiring colors all matched the factory. For a good installation solder the wires and cover them with a good marine grade sealing connector.Installation took about an hour. Pulled the old ignition out of the boat by unplugging the connector. Soldered new switch to that connector and plugged it back in. Works great.

I ordered this for my dad's boat and helped him install it. Quality was on par with the oem ignition. It works great and has had absolutely no issues. We would definitely purchase again if needed.

Used it on a 1985 force 85 outboard and it worked perfectly, just figure out which wire goes where and you're back in the water

Please. Do not buy this. It worked well and was compatible with me 1996 Mercury 150 2 stroke. But I used my boat ONE TIME…..Before putting it away in October 2022. My daughter was born and I just didn’t have time. Took my boat out today and everything was going great. On the way home I thought it was weird my gas gauge and tachometer had stopped working. But oh well. Just gotta get home and fix things once I’m on shore (I was fishing off shore in the ocean….. not just out on a lake)…… then the boat started acting really weird. Intermittently losing power and gaining power. Once again. Just thought I may have not put enough gas in and mis judged (but it was weird because I wasn’t doing anything out of the ordinary). Literally…… as I pull up to the dock the boat does. And I go to restart the boat. And this ignition switch had literally broken in half. The side that the key goes into from the side the wires are on and was completely no longer connected. If you look at the pictures you we will it’s pretty Mitch electric taped together. Which didn’t bother me when I got it. I thought it was just extra wrapping. That must be all that’s holds the two sides together. I never thought that this was something I couldn’t pinch a penny on. I WAS WRONG!! I could have been stuck off shore and been totally F******D! Do not put yourself in the position input myself in!

Wires color coded for easy, correct replacement. Well made with epoxy filled and sealed wires to make water proof and provide strain relief on wires exiting switch body. As others have mentioned, needed to very slightly reem out hole as this is just too tight to force through old pass through hole. Also, about a thick 1/4" longer than my old switch but I did have enough clearance. Works perfect. 225hp Merc turns over and starts better than ever. Nice price and quality product.
