My 2008 Honda Civic DX ignition key tubler was "sticking" really bad. I decided to buy this replacement tumbler lots of people said it would not work blah blah.. I called the local Honda dealer they said 700$ for the parts plus in$tall plu$$ programing ... my civic has 280k mi... its not even worth 700$ but it still runs. I was looking for something cheap. It took like 10 mins to install then the car would start with the new key and tumbler then it would immediatly shut off! It was because of the chip inside the key had to be reprogrammed... well.. I took the little chip fron the old key and swapped it into the new key.. BAM! No programming needed... new problem ... the new key didnt have a hole for the panic button ...my dremmel tool took care of that..... so my auto locks work wth the key fob but for the actual door locks I have to use my old key because this kit didnt come with replacement locks. Which i dont really care. Too much work .. i just use the old keey for the trunk and doors... in case my battery dies. But the clicker runs the doors so im good! Thank you!

I wouldn't say this is an easy install, but it's definitely worth it. 2008 Honda Civic LX 4DR/Auto. Key wouldn't turn in the old ignition switch, gear selector was locked in park. Watched several YouTube videos on this, which was of big help. However, no one mentioned that there's a module that is connected to the white electrical plug needs to be taken off the old ignition switch and reused on this new one (See photos). At first I was thinking that I bought the wrong part, but gladly it worked out. Save the screws and reuse when installing this module onto the new unit. Took a sharp flat edge screwdriver and smacked it at an angle with a hammer to loosen and unscrew the 2 top security bolts. A long needle nose plier helped to unscrew it once loose. Used a small (3/4 inch) Phillip's screw bit locked onto a small vise grip pliers to get at the 2 really tight Phillip screws up against the steering wheel to remove old switch unit. Once everything was replaced & installed, snug but not fully tightened, I then took out electronic guts of the old ignition key remote and put it into the new remote keys supplied (Keep your old remote key, there's a code on the remote it that may be helpful later if you loose the new keys). Put the new key (with the old original remote electronic guts inside) in the ignition switch, dash panel lit up, car started and went into gear as it should. Tightened the rest of the hardware and reinstalled the panels and it was good to go.Zero instructions in the package. Package contained just 1 new ignition switch unit, 2 new door remote ignition keys (already keyed alike to new ignition switch), 2 break away 8mm bolts and column bracket. No locksmith needed, no other parts needed or purchased. Saved over $500 by not taking this to the Honda dealer. Now that's something to cheer about, God bless.

Part works great and is not very difficult to do. I got quoted $1200 by Honda to replace this (which is absurdly high) and was able to fix it myself. I installed mine in a 2008 Honda civic, lots of great how to videos on YouTube. The hardest part for me was getting the security bolts out because it's winter and I couldn't get them to spin so ended up drilling one of them out. Transferring the old parts to the new parts on the unit as well as in the keys was very straightforward. Definitely glad I chose to do this myself!

Fantastic! Plug & play assembly. You'll need to have new keys programmed, or in my case, removed old chips & swapped with chips from new keys. Worked beautifully. You'll need to remove red panic button. New key fob is equipped with unlock & lock, only.

The part fit as intended, but it only came with one key.

When my ignition seized up in my old civic I was told I would need a whole new steering column and it could be $2000. Thought I would give this a try. I have no mechanical experience and I installed this part myself with some patience and the help of YouTube.
