I searched high and low for this size dispenser to use with 3-inch tapes, in particular double-sided tape with the plastic coating on one side. These tapes are a little too large but I put a ribbon around the holder and it fits perfectly. I use the double-sided tape to adhere artwork to cards and found that the larger rolls (sold in packs of multiples) works so much better than the tape runners and are much more economical. Now that I found the right size tape dispenser, I can change out the different widths of tape I use.

I purchased this to use with my direct to food printer. I use the blue tape to secure my paper template to the bed of the printer. I like having the tape holder because I can tear off a piece of blue tape easily and it holds it in place for me to work with. It is not so large as to be in the way, but I keep it off to the side so I can get to it easy, and use it as I need to. It works perfectly for me. It is heavy enough so that it won't move around, and has a soft bottom so it holds well.

The tape rolls are not a snug fit and come off easily but it does do what it’s supposed to do, dispense tape.

The 3" core piece works like a charm- tape with a 3" core fits snugly, however the dispenser itself is too small to fit an average roll of masking tape (think painter's tape). I measured, the masking tape was 4.75" wide (diameter of roll, not tape width) overall, and a new roll can't turn when fitted into the dispenser. Looks like it could fit a tape roll that's 4.5" in diameter max possibly, should definitely fit anything 4" or below. Tape itself is 1" wide, with was a perfect fit. Quality of dispenser itself was good, blade's sharp, non-skid base and weight is good, so it's still a good buy as long ad the diameter of your tape roll is below 4.5"!
