There are a lot of these readers on the market and they range in price, so if you are looking for one that is inexpensive, easy to use, and easy to read, this is a good buy. This one is designed to read the basics, so don't expect more than that. If you need to go deeper into scanning, invest in a higher end model. This one claims to be usable with "most" vehicles, which means those made in USA after 1996 that have this plug configuration. I think it applies to most all American vehicles and "most" foreign brands made here in the USA, but... if you own foreign types, especially German cars, check before you buy. This reader may not be compatible.

USED FOR ERROR CODES ON 2005 LEXUS ES330. CLEARED CODES AND DOES SOME OF THE TESTS. WILL NOT CHECK OXYGEN SENSORS, HOWEVER 2005 IS TO OLD. REPLACED NEW GENUINE LEXUS GAS CAP AND CLEARED CODES WITH UNIT ( LEXUS DID THIS 9 YEARS AGO, SAID BAD GAS CAP BAD). HAVE DRIVEN A FEW HUNDRED MILES WITH SUCCESS. WHEN I CLEAR THE CODES BEFORE GETTING NEW CAP AFTER DRIVING 80 MILES CODES COME BACK. DEFINITELY WORTH THE MONEY BECAUSE I CAN USE ON OTHER VEHICLES AND SOLVED MY PROBLEM FOR MUCH LESS MONEY.

Get codes yourself and quickly figure out what is going on with check lights. Easy to use, just follow the directions. Paired with a good manual and the internet, you can take care of many easier DIY category work on your vehicle. Yes, you can borrow from the auto shop, but having an OBD reader at home is so nice.

Not 100% perfect but for the price you cannot complain. Picked up the codes on my 2007 Toyota in less than 5 seconds, live data monitor works, and has a bright color screen. It a decent tool for the money.

I would have liked to keep this but it does not work on a 2008 Hyundai Accent which is the vehicle I need to repair. The unit will not connect to the accent even with the updates. From what I found out Hyundai at least on this vehicle used a Can/Bus protocol that this scanner does not support. I did hook it up to my Ford and Dodge vehicles and it worked perfectly, hence the 3 stars.
