I recently replaced my old garbage disposal with the InSinkErator Badger 5 and I am very impressed! The 1/2 HP motor is more than powerful enough for everyday food waste, and it handles everything from fruit peels to leftovers with ease. Easy to install, and works great! Typically this brand lasts about 8 years. Which is longer then most Garbage disposals in this class. Price range is reasonable. I ordered the one with the plug and that is exactly what I got. Definitely recommend

Seeing the word “Insinkerator†around the hole in the sink that leads to the garbage disposal has always cracked me up, so I did not hesitate to order that brand again this time. Even though it had been at least ten years since the previous one, we were able to leave the flange around the drain from the old one and hang the new disposal on it, making the installation that much easier. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow, and we are grateful that no big changes had been made in the design. Works great and the unit is much quieter than the old one, a nice surprise. We remain an Insinkerator family!

I ordered this to replace my much older disposal, probably 13+ years old. I had to convert this to a hardwired connection (thank you YouTube for the guidance!). Removing the plug from the unit was a bit tricky but finally got it out, snipped the wires, and wired it to my existing Romex with wire nuts.Pros- Was able to reuse my "Lift and Lock" bracket from older unit- Much quieter than previous unit.- Install was straightforward.Cons- Not a fan of the new locking ring that has the tab in it. Reused my old locking ring.- I have a straight pipe for the discharge. This assumes an immediate P-trap connection.- My old disposal had a compression connection for the drain pipe. This does not.

Arrived in perfect condition, exactly as advertised.The mount is pretty common as this is a major brand, so if you're replacing a similar machine (even if it came from another company) you might not even have to replace the outlet in your sink (I didn't!).The cord is long enough to reach the outlet under most sinks (my previous disposal had much too long of a cord which got in the way). If you buy this from one of the "big box" stores, they charge (a lot) extra for the power cord, so having it come, already installed, was a real time-saver and money saver!I needed to re-do the plumbing under my sink (for unrelated reasons), so I also bought the installation/plumbing kit, but if you are happy with the existing pipes, you might just be able to swap this unit in.***** ONE THING TO KEEP IN MIND ***** If you are going to use this with a dishwasher, there is a step in the installation where you use a screw-driver and a hammer to punch-out a piece of plastic so your dishwasher can empty into the disposal. It's VERY EASY to do, but if you don't... the first time you run your dishwasher, you're in for a nasty surprise! If you don't have a dishwasher, it's ready right out of the box. I almost installed it without punching the piece out. Thankfully, I did at least look over the instructions before installing it! (lol)After I got it installed, I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it is, much quieter than the old one it replaced. I also liked that it is very stable, no vibrations at all. If they shake around, it will eventually loosen the pipes and you'll get leaks, but this model is smooth and didn't need a stand or bracing.For me, the cost of this disposal was less than the cost of having the home warranty company send someone out to repair the old machine. If you feel "handy" enough to swap one out, it's an easy project!

My old InSinkErator was from 2013, a Badger 5 model 5-84.This one is a Badger 5 model 5-91A. It fits perfectly in place of the old one.No need to change the under sink mounting bracket. No need to reposition the drain plumbing.Neighborhood handyman got the old one out and the new one in in less than 1/2 hour. Simple enough that I could have done it myself but my back appreciates me not attempting it. The disposal is heavy.

Purchased this to replace a 20 y/o Badger. Fittings, including sink bracket were all the same so it went in without a problem. Didn’t need to change the sink bracket which saved time and aggravation! Working well, no leaks and quiet enough.
