I used these clips as a professional technician on metal and Teflon planetary gear systems affixed to large electric appliance motors. These types of clips should be considerably more resilient than these. These may be okay for some applications, but the quality of the steel is less than what I am used to. I would certainly not use them in a demanding application or where safety is paramount. Personally, cannot even call these spring steel. The 65Mn label of spring steel seems not to describe this product. I cannot say that I am a fan of Chinese steel products manufactured in China for such a reason - I have found the durability of Chinese bearings to be substandard due to the steel used as well.The elasticity of the clip allows it to pass over a diameter larger than the diameter onto which it stays. If it needs to be removed, it generally does not stay in shape since its removal requires considerable deformation since the angle of the internal teeth face outward and compress further inward when pulled backward. If the shape of the clip is deformed, the teeth will not grab appropriately and unevenly.
