I've been dabbling in a variety of crafts, including woodworking, painting, and more, and thought I might add candle-making to the repertoire. That then gave me the idea of using wine bottles for the candles, which then led to this handy little tool. This kit appears to have everything a person needs to get started with cutting bottles for use as candle containers, drinking glasses, pencil/pen holders or any other such item. My initial experimentation is focused on standard round bottles, but from the description it'll work with other shapes as well. I look forward to experimenting with those in the future. In the meantime, it's a fun kit to at least get started with, and I encourage you to give it a try.

The frame is made of stainless steel, the casters are zinc coated with plastic wheels. It has a good a adjustment range. I feel the neck cone could have been larger for bigger bottles. It was a llttle challenging cutting the neck of a medium size wine bottle. The wine bottle was 5" in diameter with a 1" diameter neck. The cutter scored the bottle nicely and the bottle split evenly. A few cuts diverged from the cut line a little bit but that may have been due to the quality of the glass. I feel it's a well made jig that will hold up for a long time. Extra cutters were nice as well as the glass hole cutter, sand paper, gloves and a bottle cleaver.

Great glass cutter, straightforward and easy to use. I've hoarding a collection of glass bottles in a specific color and have been wanting to make glasses or some sort of wider-mouthed vases out of them and while I've only tested the cutter on bottles I am less precious about, I have found this works great for me! Looking forward to playing with this one a bit more.

The way that glass works is that you really don't cut it. You score it, which means that you make a very small, fine line and then you turn that line into a crack with pressure, heat, or other means. This is nice because it has a small base to help you roll the bottle so you can get a clean score. It's great for making up-cycled projects like suncatchers and turning glass into other things you can use around the house like coasters and spoon rests. My favorite way to reuse bottles is to just flatten them in the kiln. Then I don't have to cut them at all.
