This arrived in perfect condition. None of the rust or other issues, reported in some other reviews. It looks like it has a coating on it. It's shiny, the markings are deep, and easy to read. I'm also pleased that the measurements start at the very edge. I can't stand it when the measurement begins 1/8 or 1/16 of an inch in from the edge. I highly recommend this.

Pros:Exactly as pictured and described.The deeply embossed markings are clear and easy to read.Heavy steel with no warping and lies very flat on a flat surface.Cons:Not black markings which a little wiped on ink and laquer could have cured.Conclusion:Great price for a really good Square.

The manufacture & design is great. The metal is on the thick assuring perice placement. The embossing is clear and deep with a thick clear coat to protect the bright finish and above all its SQUIRE.Doc Tom USN

Got a half dozen of these here in the shop. Hubs ordered these last two because they were a dollar off. Heck, that's as good a reason as I would need! It's a heavy steel carpenter's square. Irwin is a great brand. When WW3 happens, you can cut it apart and make like two bushcrafters, three patch knives and a few arrowheads!

Its heavy and easy to read. I absolutely didn't know I needed this until my hubby told me this was the tool I needed. I need to get one in smaller sizes too for when I am doing my miniatures. This brand and ruler is awesome highly recommend
