About this item

  • AQUATIC WATER EAR PLUGS: Hydro plugs are waterproof ear buds that protect the inner ear from water while allowing sound waves to flow through freely. Perfect for the swimmer, surfer, or diver that wants an easier way to clear their ears while in the water. Hydro Seals also help prevent the temporary loss of equilibrium.
  • KEEPS EARBUDS IN AND WATER OUT: Participate in water sports without the fear of losing your hearing or ear plugs. These aqua plugs utilize an advanced multi-baffle design that locks in place to provide exceptional protection against water entering the ear canal.
  • NOISE REDUCTION TECHNOLOGY: Hydro seals use Hocks Noise Braker technology, an industry first design that creates a force-field like barrier to prevent water from reaching the inner ear without completely sealing it. Sound waves are allowed in while intruding water pressure in the ear is eliminated.
  • MAY HELP PREVENT SWIMMER'S EAR: Surfer's ear, also known as swimmer's ear, occurs when the ear canal experiences long exposure to cold water and wind. Hydro seal aqua plugs protect ears from infection that comes from stagnant water in the inner ear canal with its ear shape molded design.
  • HYPOALLERGENIC SILICONE EAR HOOKS: Made with reusable and durable material, just wash after every use to ensure ear plugs last for a long time. Silicone is gentle on skin and the inner ear canal.

JBL: We are Predators of the Deep

Made in the USA for over 40 years

For over 40 years JBL has been focused on one thing…providing unmatched spearfishing equipment for predators of the deep. Travel anywhere there’s water and you’re sure to find our spearguns in the hands of hardcore shooters. Why? We think it’s a combination of our timeless designs and premium materials. That combined with JBL’s legendary accuracy and bullet-proof durability has helped hunters like you stone game fish shot after shot.

JBL: Designed and Built in Oceanside, CA

We are Conservationists

Using the right equipment is only part of the mix. Equally as important is having a place to spearfish and someone to hunt with, which seems to be getting more and more difficult. Many environmental and special interest groups fail to see the selective nature and fair chase in spearfishing. Federal and state game management organizations are being pressured continually by these groups to shorten seasons, close areas and restrict species.

We all need to take a proactive role in not only educating the public as to the merits of spearfishing, but also in defending our rights as game fishers whether it be with a speargun, sling or rod and reel. Get involved with your local diving club and attend fish & game meetings or write them letters, our voice must be united and heard. If possible take a non-hunter diving, once they try it they’ll be shooters for life. It’s an amazing sport, nothing compares to the underwater hunting experience of being a predator of the deep.

I always had trouble equalizing one of my ears and gave them a shot due to the affordable pice. I read about them helping ear equalization specifically in colder water. In layman's terms, they seem to limit the amount of (cold) water hitting your eardrum at once and seem make it easier to equalize by keeping your eardrum warmer and therefore more flexible. Once in a while they become loose, but I also do not force them in very deep. Had no issues using them for Scuba up to 90ft and could equalize very well. very comfortable, you almost forgot you have them in. Also come in handy for noise reduction if you are on a smaller boat with a loud engine. I liked them also for snorkeling, since you don't fell like constantly having waves and water splashing against your ears. Sizing is as expected, if you have earbuds with exchangeable rubber pieces you probably already know which size your typically go for. I was scared of loosing them but they stay pretty well in your ear, just need to push adjust in the ear channel once in a while. Keep them clean after each use and I'm sure you get some great use out of it. Storage container is useful but can be a dit flimsy. I wouldn't have minded a more solid plastic container to keep them safe over time, but then again can't complain at that price.

I always had ear problems after 3-5 days of scuba diving so I decided to give the JBL Hydro Seals a try based on a recommendation from a fellow scuba diver. I used them this past summer over 5 consecutive days of scuba diving and they worked fantastic for me and for the first I came home after a scuba diving trip with no ear problems. The plugs fit my ear canal well and they stayed in place for all my dives. I had no problems equalizing my pressure as I descended on some dives between 80-100 feet.I plan to buy a second set as a back up in case I lose my current pair when I am on diving trip.

plugs do what they promise but are a little uncomfortable to wear, hope that this will get better once getting used to them; overall, good productUpdate: after wearing these plugs for over a week, I can't even feel them in my ear anymore. I'm swimming every day and they have protected my ear, had no issues keeping water out; they also stay in while I swim......good product, highly recommended if you have to protect your ear.....5 stars

I used to use the silicone plugs and they are ok. THe problems were first that they need to be clean and need some fiddling to fit your ear. Don't try taking them out and reinserting while in the water (to hear someone better) and they can't be cleaned after dropping them. I tried a few different vented plugs that would allow me to hear in the water but the other brands stuck out from the ear and got caught sooner or later (on kelp etc) and pulled out. The jbl hydro seal sits inside the ear so it can't easily be knocked or pulled loose but is very easy to take out and reinsert and to clean. The size refers more to the external part which fits under the folds of the ear. My ear canal is small but the exterior is "average" so the medium fits perfectly. The ear plug does not 100% seal out the water but it prevents it from flooding in and I am told that is what is needed to prevent damage from cold water and bone growth. I've been using these for 1.5 years and after about 9 months the first set got a little stiff and brittle so I replaced them. Also there is a dedicated left and right so if you are prone to losing things you should have a full spare set.TO recap-good for swimming-allows you to heard sounds and voices around you-a no snag easy to use fit-not a perfect waterproof seal but sufficient to protect the ear-size is determined by exterior portion of the ear-read instructions to understand proper fit, it is different than the usual plugs

My ears get stuffed after diving in cold water and I hoped these plugs would help. No luck. The plugs fit nicely, and were comfortable during 4 hours of freediving (not exceeding 30 feet). At the exit the we still sitting properly. However, my ear is still stuffed, as it would without the plugs. Maybe somebody will have a better luck with them.

My kid has always had ear infections after going swimming, well, not any more! These ear plugs did what they are suppose to do! Now, my kid can go swimming without any hesitation. I would definitely buy these again.

This product appeared to be very good. Excellent materials, good design details and was easy to insert and was comfortable. I really wanted this to work. I tried both the small and medium sizes. The "hoop" part that fits in the concha bowl and the domed parts that fit in the ear canal are different sizes between small and medium.. The product description only refers to the "hoop" part being a different size. The domed pieces would not stay inserted in the ear canal. The second larger one come out and make only intermittent contact. I could hear it making and breaking contact with the ear canal. Consequently, water gets it. This is the most important attribute for me since I have a missing ear drum. Water getting into the middle ear leads to bad outcomes. I am a swimmer and have been using MAcks for a long time but was hoping these were better. These are more comfortable but fail to keep out water. I tried them over several days of swimming.

I originally found these at a diving supply company and read the reviews. They are ear plugs that help divers decompress easier and you can still hear above the water. The completely seal the canal yet water can gather by the top and block some hearing. I just shake my head and I’m good. They ergonomically fit in your ears. Our whole family wears them for swimming in the outdoor, at the Y and especially the beach. We are seriously prone to swimmers ear so we find these necessary. They are worth every penny spent. Matter of fact I’ve bought extras and replacements because our son lost his in a lake At camp. It was just too murky to find them. Most people do wear size medium. Our teens and my husband and myself wear that size. Make sure you follow the instructions on putting them in. Hope this review helps someone else!
