Jeremywell #40 Roller Chain Idler Sprocket 1/2" Bore Hardened 17 Tooth

Sprockets are durable toothed wheels that are used in combination with roller chains to power all types of machinery. As the sprocket spins, the teeth grab onto the chain and move other parts that interlock with the chain.

Using the right sprocket is just as important as choosing the right chain. If both pieces don’t complement each other, the system will not operate correctly. At Jeremywell, we offer a wide selection of high quality standard roller chain sprockets. Our sprockets are engineered to perform well under pressure and are long-lasting. There are a broad selection of factors to keep in mind when selecting replacement sprockets, a simple way to determine the right sprocket is by considering the following factors:

  • The type of chain you would need the sprocket for.
  • The style of sprocket you are looking for:
    • Idler Sprocket
    • Type A (Flat sprocket, no hubs)
    • Type B (1 Hub)
    • Type C (2 Hubs)
  • Number of Teeth needed.
  • Sprocket bore size.

It’s a solid, well machined sprocket and the bearing feels great; tight and smooth. Delivered exactly as ordered.

The 5/8 hole for the shaft was .10 thousands too small. Had to hone it out. one of the set screw holes needed to be cleaned with a tap. the sprocket was so heavy for what I was putting it on I had to drill holes to make it lighter. All of this was minor for me but for someone without the tools it would be tough.

Out of the box this sprocket didn’t Slide on to the TAV 4 driven shaft. I had to spend and 5-10 minutes opening it up with emery cloth and a round file. However, once fitted it has worked great. I don’t know how many hours we have on it (a lot) but it’s still in great shape and doing what it’s supposed too. There aren’t many options out there for a 9 tooth sprocket; if you need one; I’d say this is a solid choice with the understanding that it may require a little fitting.
