It feels like you could push something without it retracting. I'm using mine at the grocery store since they started using higher shelves. I like that it retracts down small enough to fit in one of my cloth grocery bags. If you have a fairly big purse, it might fit in that too.My only complaint is that the hook wiggles a little in its mounting. It seems to be in there pretty strongly, so it shouldn't be an issue.Update: I have used it to push and pull items on the grocery store shelves and you can pull a fairly heavy item with it--like a gallon of tea.The retracting mechanism stays where you extend it, so I think you could lift a decent sized snake without more coming out of the handle. Likewise, I think you can push things to some extent without it retracting.I think it will be very helpful in the store.

This is very light weight and the metal seems pretty sturdy. The plastic on the handle is kind of flimsy so I wrapped it with hockey tape and I think it will work great!

I DID NOT PURCHASE FOR SNAKES …..Purchased & use for a blocking tool used in retail.Works excellent for what i purchased it for.Made well, light weight, and telescopic is definitely a plus. Also its magnetic 🧲 a plus

I got these for my wife and I to reach high-up stuff in the pantry and for getting kids' toys from under the couch, etc. Works well so far.

Hello, I was looking for a snake hook to help me with looking after my corn snakes after my hip replacement surgery, and I knew this one didn't have a lot of good reviews but I decided to take a chance and give it a try. And I'm so glad that I did!Once I figured out how to extend it (there were no directions on that), I didn't extend it all the way, I just extended it 24 inches-the length I'll need- and I found it to be quite firm and sturdy, and it didn't wobble in any way. The hook didn't shake at all and seemed quite firmly put together. I tested it out and was able to safely pick up my adult corn snake with it.For me, I found it to be a great product and well worth the money. :)

The vendor said 2 lbs load I attempted to use on one application and hook fell out Did not pay very much for product so not worth returning as would spend more money going to post office

Opened and closed it twice and the bottom cap shot off and is absolutely garbage. Do not buy if you want to use it more than once !

After a week or so it began popping apart when trying to extend or close. The 1 star simply because it's exactly what I needed until it broke.
