This thing is awesome. I know there were older reviews of possibly old stock, rechargeable batteries not working, or poor packaging, but I've had the (mostly) exact opposite experience. Everything was absolutely brand new and packaged well, nothing bouncing around in the box at all. However, the carrying case was missing a latch and one of the hinges at the back was broken. So docking one star for that.I charged up the laser and then checked calibration. It is dead on using the calibration check procedures: I mean DEAD ON. There is zero variance throughout the orientation tests.The grade rod is really nice and seems high quality to me (I've used others that are far cheaper feeling). It's nice that there are feet on one side and tenths on the other. It's heavy and stout.The tripod is sturdy and adjusts easily. Zero complaints.The receiver is far nicer than others I've used in the past. You can adjust to two different sound levels, or silent. You can also adjust how fine tuned the precision is (which is helpful when trying to find the line initially).The remote works well, although I didn't go out 200 feet to check advertised distance.I also put it in dual slope mode and adjusted on the laser as well as the remote, and it was effortless and worked well.It does take longer to spin up than some pendulum lasers I've used, but it's like 10-20 seconds and I attribute that to the electronic leveling versus the old-school pendulum.This has to be the best value in all rotary lasers. You can spend four to six times as much to get a dual-slope function. I guess the fact that it's only IP54 instead of IP66 rated reduces the cost. But, come on, I'm not holding my laser under a high pressure washer.The only thing I'd personally appreciate is a smaller case for just the laser, receiver, and remote. I don't need the tripod and rod to be in a case. But that's just me. And, of course, a not broken case in the first place would be good. I reached out to Johnson support and will update about how they handle the issue.

Needed to put in a pad for my new greenhouse, having an excavator contractor do the work costs 700.00I was able to layout the pad, remove dirt and fill to level in one afternoon using my backhoe and tractor. The pad is perfectly level and I have a tool that I can use around the property as needed. Easy set up and even easier to use, watch a few YouTube videos if you have any doubts on the ease of use.

finally decided to upgrade our older rotary to one with slope. we'll never go back, this is much quicker and easy to use. the remote control and longer grade rod were a plus too, nice touches when most lasers in this price come with short rods.Accuracy seemed spot on, we haven't used indoors or in vertical mode yet, but I'll update this review if we do.Overall, I'm happy with this laser and would recommend it to anyone, especially if you'll use the slope match. Don't wait like we did to get a laser with slope, it makes life much easier!

So far seems to be a great set up simple to use everything you need Iv used it 4 times with my side buisness . Exept the remote. The remote only seems to work if you are standing within 5-10 feet of the system. But it will still beep like is working. That was like an hour and half of wasted time trying to set up slop on a drain by myself . Nothing wanted to adjust eaven tho the remote was beeping like it was doing what it supposed to do. Vary frustrating when it wasn’t working with a customer around

The level itself is top notch, the grade rod had a couple scuffs on it, nothing major. This unit really comes with everything you'll need to start grading right out of the box! The hard case is a huge bonus. The controls are easy to use and so far the remote works great as well. I use this for my landscaping business and it's an invaluable asset.

Great value for what it is. I'm a Architectural Designer, I use it to capture the landscapes in a job site for when a surveying crew is not present or if there is no surveys created. Truely valuable information can be gathered from device for creating footings to custom built decks. Highly reliable equipment, absolutely love it.

It works very well very good quality the kit is great has everything in it except for a wall mount but you can order separate works great in the rain all types of weather.I especially like the duel slope feature makes it great for all jobs.
