My husband wanted this so I purchased it for Christmas. He lives it and has already used it at least 3 Xs. Very, very strong, solid , easy to use and a beautiful piece.

This set is very durable. It cleans easily and gets the job done. I love the lid. I do wish it was something other than bamboo. However, it comes it handy. I use this mainly for crushing herbs. Very unique! I keep it on the countertop. The craftmanship is outstanding. Should be around for a very long time.

I've used this to crush peanuts for my daughter's "lollipops" - which is a spoon dipped in peanut butter, then rolled in crushed peanuts. It works consistently with the way humanity's used rocks since roughly the dawn of our species. So, it's a perfectly functional pair of rock surfaces to smash food between.

My wife has a mortar and pestle made of cast steel. It's rusty brown, ugly as hell, and looks like it was cast in 1938. You don't dare think about how to clean it. But it's still in use. I bought a clean new ceramic one and broke it in a week. This granite one is satisfyingly sturdy. It grinds pepper (for example) to a very fine powder indeed! I'll break it eventually, I guess, but I love it!!!

This mortar and pestle looks absolutely fantastic on the kitchen counter, there's nothing like it in the world (and that's why I purchased it). Every other type of mortar/pestle set looks very similar......and maybe that's for a reason. While using this mortar and pestle, hard spices have a tendency to jump right out of the mortar and onto your counter or floor. This is super-annoying, especially when you're grinding spices that are expensive.To counter this, you can use your hand as a shield around the edge of the bowl. Not a huge inconvenience, but still irritating enough to remove one star.

Si tratta di un mortaio in granito bianco (tonalite) pesante e ben rifinito: 2.5 kg più mezzo chilo circa di pestello. La superficie non è liscia come molti mortai in marmo e, secondo noi, è più utile nel lavorare alimenti secchi, benchè lo utilizziamo anche per preparazioni oleose. Il coperchio in bambù è molto utile. Il pestello ha una forma che si adatta bene a mani piccole e, se fosse un po' più lungo sarebbe, più ergonomico, ma sarebbe meno integrabile a livello estetico. Il lavaggio è molto comodo, anche se occorre fare attenzione a manipolarlo considerando il suo peso. Ottime le istruzioni per "stagionare" e preparare il mortaio.
