our janitorial company got a huge contract for us. It is a 500,000 sqft distribution center with parking lot. This is our first big gig. We prefer less labor, and more machines to do work. But cost effective. I did a lot of research on equipment for the various tasks we had to accomplish. One is the sidewalk around the building, and another is under machinery. I saw these units and decided to try the least expensive. This Karcher S-4. No motor. Just gears that turn when you push it. Let us see what it can do.Yes, with a lot of dust it will put some of it into the air. So a dust mask maybe needed. But does it work. YES IT DOES. I clean the parking lot too. Pickups the cigarette butts, small papers/plastic, etc. Cleaned up the parking lot, sidewalk very quickly.PRO--inexpensive, no motors to fix, no electric, super easy to operate, nothing to break, works wellCON--in a high dust area will toss some into the airHIGHLY RECOMMEND--We may purchase another one, and try a upgraded version

Very easy to set up. Very easy to use. It picks up a lot of stuff (we have acorns everywhere), and is a great and simpler alternative to pressure washing stuff out of walkways. With this sweeper, you can easily dispose of what you pick up instead of just moving stuff around your front yard. It's also way easier than using an outdoor push broom. And you don't have to worry about getting the stuff into a dustpan. It may seem a little pricey, but if you want to get stuff off out of your backyard/frontyard, very easily and quickly, this is a great product for that. If you have a very large space (we don't), maybe other methods would work better, but I'm very happy with this product. It also seems pretty well made and should last a while.

I used this to sweep up a 20k square foot facility that was half carpet and half paved flooring. There was a lot of junk on the carpet like paper punch circles, small trash, push pins and a million paperclips. The front has the rotating sweeping discs that extend beyond the edges of the machine, the rear has a narrower pickup that resembles a reel mower. They work great together, unfortunately by design it doesn't do awesome at the wall edges. It picked up most small and light debris from the carpet but left behind heavier items like nuts, bolts, washers and coins. it picked up the punched paper circles and paper clips really well. small sheetrock screws were picked up but took a couple to a few passes. Saw dust was picked up nicely from the carpet (low tight commercial office type carpet) but took a few passes. This machine was way faster than a shop vac and easier to use than a standard vacuum or a shop vac.On pavement it did really well on basic dirt, dust, small items, but suffered on nuts, bolts, washers an coins just like it did on carpet.Overall a great effort and time saver, though it's not perfect. I'd buy it again.

I bought this sweeper to clean up around the pool we are currently having built in hopes that it will help keep debris out of the pool. That’s actually a lie, the real reason I bought this sweeper is because my parents have one and as soon as I saw theirs I knew I needed one. The above reason was just the excuse I used on my wife to justify the purchase. I will start by saying that this sweeper does not replace any tools. You’re still going to need your push broom, you’re still going to need your angle broom, you’re still going to need your blower, and you’re probably still going to need your dustpan. That being said, this is an excellent companion for yard cleanup that will make sweeping your hard surfaces quicker and you might even have a little bit of fun doing it. My property is not huge, but it offers an assortment of surfaces that this sweeper was able to make quick work of. I have a large concrete driveway, sanded concrete pool decking, a flagstone patio and front walk, and an artificial turf back lawn. This sweeper tackled everything I threw its way with relative ease and with very little learning curve. Here are a few notes/suggestions that I’ve come up with for use on different surfaces:-On the flagstone I found that multiple passes were necessary to get all debris, but compared to a push broom it was very quick and easy.-For my artificial turf I found it necessary to remove the front horizontal brushes. With the front brushes on it was difficult to maneuver and I was concerned that it might snap the belts that turn them.-For wet leaves you will need to make several passes-The sweeper does not sweep in reverse so you need your angle broom or blower to move debris out into areas where you can make a full pass-For dirt or sand you will want to hit the debris with the front brushes to stir it up/loosen it up to allow the rear brush wheel to pick it up.Overall this tool is completely unnecessary but if you have the money to buy it and room to store it, I highly recommend it. It makes cleaning fun and easy and if your kids are like mine they will fight over who gets to use it. I have only used it for one day so I can’t speak to reliability, but my parents have had the previous model for several years and it’s still in prefect working condition with regular use. I anticipate ours will last a long time as well.

I've used these to clean large parking lots and they are superb. Like I've had over 10k step days chasing one of these around the parking lot. Cannot even compare to using a broom. If you have a lot of debris it may take several passes, but when you empty the bin you'll realize how much you've picked up. They don't look like they would work, I've had several co-workers scoff when I tell them to use one, but the result is always the same, they work far better than they look like they should. Obviously there is a limit to the size of debris they can pick up, but still great.

I use this for sweeping up my large car park and have found it the best purchase bye far this year. I don’t need to plug it in and it picks up stones, twigs and stones easy.

I originally ordered this to Clem’s around the pool, but when I received it I was really surprised at how well this cleans, around the pool, the driveway the sidewalk and along the street! It cleaned everything without leaving a trail or any dust, leaves or small branches behind! Great to have and a whole lot easier than using a broom!

Much better than weekly leaf blowing that annoys neighbours. Silently does a better job.Expensive for what it is but it is worth it as paths and patio around house are now spotless and no need for smelly noisy petrol lead vacuum.
