As you can see have made several kalimbas to date and the parts are fantastic for the price. The downside is there are no instructions period in regard to spacing. Fortunately, I had another kalimba that I had purchased to take measurements from and they seemed to work well.Bottom Line: Great Kit.

I haven't tried making a kalimba yet with this kit but the parts are a nice quality. I can't attest to the tone or any dead keys since I haven't had time to make my kalimba but I think it will be nice once I have time to get it done.

Happy to recieve and came sooner then expected. However upon assembling I noticed I was missing a D2 key. Is there any way I can retrieve one without purchasing a new set?

It sounds awesome on the kalimba I made. I like that the tubes are labeled with the notes, which helps for assembly obviously but also helps to learn to play it.

Only a few of the keys had a good tone to them. The rest sounded dead (like if you would put your finger on it after you plucked it) even after I tried several times to adjust them. I even adjusted the bridge spacing to try to put more pressure on the keys. Are there better quality keys or do you have directions on spacing the bridges?

I made and remade this but the tone was garbage. Not knowing the spacing the first attempt was too loose, but even after remaking the thing it still sounds like trash. Most of the notes sound dead and hollow.

Arrived on time as usual. Nice solid grain wood. Metal keys were the best I've seen. Smooth high polished chrome keys clearly stamped with letter and number. Smooth lightly frosted ends. Excellent flexibility and strength. Very pleased.
