I purchased this to carry an Old Town Guide 147 canoe on my Ford Fusion. The canoe is a bit wider in the middle than these pads, but each of the 2 sections' pads are separated in the middle and can be cut easily with scissors. I carefully cut through that on both sections and then the pads fit perfectly -- up to the sides of my car's roof and well situated under the edges of the canoe while the strap still holds them in place just fine. The padded ends on the ropes that are tied to the front and back were very easy to install and hold the canoe very well by setting them inside the hood and trunk. Once the final straps were used over the canoe to hold it down on top over the pads, it held very well while driving with the canoe even at highway speeds. The pads and straps left no scratches at all and there was no shifting whatsoever. Very quick and easy to install and remove. I highy recommend -- I wish I had bought these a long time ago!

The item it's fine ,the description is wrong, it says 46 1/2"-42"x 4" but the real measurements are 44"-34" x3".
