Replacement pen is a must have in order for the unit to work. They dont last that long. I would say 6 months with moderate use. Love the unit and would purchase again

It dries out so fast. I’ve had my tester for a year and a half and I’ve had to order two replacements already. I keep the lid on tightly when not in use but it dries up even with that. I wish there was a different option but I am stuck buying these again when mine dries out.
