Hubs and I both purchased this boot and just came back from our first hike.WE BOTH LOVE THEM! CANNOT SAY ONE THING NEGATIVE ABOUT THEM.BUT HAVE PLENTY OF POSITIVES TO LIST:- no breaking in, comfy right out of the box (big plus)- beefy tread/lugs on the sole & kept traction on packed down ruts and in fluffy 6" deep snow- waterproof so far but we have a very dry snow right now (will update after we hit slush)- I appreciated the set-back lace hook to tighten the heel to prevent slipping (my right foot is a bit smaller than my left)- the entire boot is beefy and is a true hiking boot but not so stiff that the ankle cuff cuts into the leg- handsome dark brown with black trim and the classic Keen toe!- laces were long enough for all the boot eyes and then some - a plus- not too heavy of a boot to cause fatigue while hiking- here's how sizing worked for us; Hubs normally wears a 7.5W yet the 8M fit him perfectly; Me: I wear womens 7.5M but the mens 7M fit really well- we've tried on about 15 pairs of hiking boots, both thru Amazon and at a local brick 'n mortar and we could not be more pleased with selecting these bootsBest of the best. Keen ... You've done it again! Thank you!UPDATE: Waterproof during slushy/melted snow. Will review after a big slush event.

The quality and construction of this boot is very good. As always with keen, you get lots of toe room and a narrower and more secure heel. I do a lot of beach hiking, so needed a boot with all leather uppers that would be more resistant to salty conditions. Previous boots with any kind of plastic on the uppers would come apart. This is a heavier boot, so will more than likely take some breaking in time. Light keen boots are very comfortable right out of the box, but this one takes some time to break in if you are prone to blisters of any kind. Once this is done, they are very comfortable.

I've worn a bunch of different hiking boots over the years, and none have matched the comfort of the Keen Durand II. If you have extra wide feet like I do and struggle to find "wide" footwear that is actually, properly wide, try the Durands. They are roomy and good for all seasons. The traction is very good, a bit short of a German or Italian alpine trekking boot, and they offer good protection underfoot as well as in the toe cap. Seriously, I've kicked plenty of rocks on trails and never felt a thing. I describe the Durands as the middle ground between sneaker-like brands such as Hoka and Solomon on one side and alpine boots like Lowa or Scarpa on the other. You sacrifice a little bit of agility and a little bit of ruggedness but end up with a well-rounded and versatile boot.A minor complain is the lack of padding along the inner side of the foot, particularly at the widest point just behind the big toe. Occasionally a rock or root will glance off that area, and it hurts. Needs some thicker material there. Here's the reason for my wistful headline: These boots have a design flaw. The stitching at the outer portion of the foot, at the widest part the ball, is in the worst possible spot. That is the spot most likely to strike a rock or a root or be scraped by ragged underbrush, so I can't understand why the designers would think that was the right place to join the leather sections of the upper. I've got about 200-250 miles on my Durands and the stitching is completely torn out, leaving a gap wide enough to slide a pinky inside. Funny thing is, when I first got the boots, I ran into a guy on a trail who had the same boots but a year older than my pair. He said exactly what I'm telling you now: Within a year, the stitching will rip in that spot.By contrast, I have a pair of Propet boots that are inferior in most ways but have over 400 miles on them without any notable damage.I've since moved on to European trekking boots so I can marry durability and performance, but I'd certainly consider another pair of Keens if they fix that one design issue or add a rand.

I purchased a 12W and paid the extra few bucks for the wides. I received regular 12s but the toe box is wide enough that they fit comfortably anyhow. I went walking across town in -14°F weather and my feet didn't even get the slightest bit chilly. I also didn't have any issue staying upright atop the icy sidewalk! Because of this I'm not angry about the extra few bucks because these boots are 100% worth it.

You never know what is going on in someone's life. Are they simply negligent, or did something catastrophic happen in their lives. I hate to write a bad review for anyone, but I should say something. The shoes are just fine, they shipped them two days after they were supposed to be delivered. They were supposed to be delivered around two weeks after I ordered them. It ended up being around 3 weeks. I hope they do better for their customers in the future.

Within two weeks of normal wear - no hiking, no "work" activities, etc. - the stitching on the left boot where the toe seam and the side seam meet at the sole came unstitched and separated from the sole. This is the exact same defect I have seen in two other reviews. It is too bad because the boots are extremely comfortable and really fit well for my wide feet. I was actually contemplating some shoe glue because I really like the look and feel, but on closer inspection, the leather right there is so thin it was actually starting to tear away from the sole, in addition to the stitching coming undone. For the price, these should last a lot longer and be much more durable. Really a shame, but from the looks of other reviews, this seems to be a common defect in this particular Keen design.

They’re well constructed, comfortable and keep your feet dry even in rain. I’ve ordered multiple pairs.

I was sent B-Grade boots no official packaging just a Keen label saying B-Garde on it and boots with noticeable defects all over them, no where on the listing does it say that i was buying a defective product. i was only offered a refund of small discount not a replacement for the thing i actually paid for and since these were intended as a present for xmas and there was no way of finding something else in time i reluctantly took the small discount/refund. overall pretty disappointed to receive a terrible product and be stuck with them (or) nothing at all for a present.

Anteriormente use botas keen durante 1 año y me parecieron muy cómodas y duraderas pero este nuevo par solo dos días de uso y se despego la suela.
