  • Polyethylene for chemical resistance
  • 1/4"-20 female threads for mounting
  • Molded in one piece to resist leakage

This Kerick PF06 oval float ball is 6" in diameter. It is made of polyethylene for resistance to corrosion and to deterioration from sunlight, is molded in one piece to resist leakage, and has 1/4"-20 female threads. It is intended for use with 3/8" to 1" inlet float valves and 1/4"-20 threaded rods (sold separately). As part of a float valve installation, it is suitable for use in a variety of applications, such as fountains, livestock water tanks, and chemical manufacturing plants.

Float valves use a rod and float ball attached to a valve shutoff lever to control flow in or out of a tank. The float ball rises or falls with the level of liquid in the tank, changing the angle of the valve shutoff lever. When the angle of the valve lever changes sufficiently, the valve opens or closes. Float valves are rated according to the volume of liquid that can flow through them at a particular pressure to ensure the tank can be refilled as quickly as it is emptied. The material that a float valve is constructed from must be suitable for the liquid in which it operates, which may be corrosive or at an extreme temperature. Float valves are used to automatically regulate the level of liquid within tanks in a variety of applications, such as fountains, livestock water tanks, cooling towers, and chemical manufacturing plants.

Kerick Valve manufactures fluid level control valves for industrial applications. The company, founded in 1994, is headquartered in Jacksonville, FL.

I used it with this Mueller Industries 109-814 Float Valves, 0.75 Inch that I bought off amazon as well. instead of connecting them together with a single shaft, I used eyelets and a piece of rope to secure the two pieces together so that the cows wouldn't bend or break the rod or valve when they played with the float. because we all know they will. I'm not sure which was worse. those darn cows or the Horses trying to kick it. needless to say the rope idea really saved us from having to purchase more parts. I will say though. you need a heavy weight on the swing arm in order for the valve listed above to work correctly..

My old commode needed repair. The existing tank ball was rather small. When the ball lifted the shut-off lever, the lever often did not close completely, perhaps due to corrosion. I would have to take the lid off the commode tank and lift the lever to get the water to stop its internal leak and wasting of water. So I decided to buy this 6 inch diameter ball, which cured the problem. The existing tank ball was only about 4 inches in diameter. The 6 inch ball has much more buoyancy power & lifts the shut-off arm with more force. So now my commode no longer has the internal leak. The water shuts off all the way. Note that this 6 inch ball will probably not fit inside a modern toilet commode water tank (too big). But I have an old model commode with a bigger tank, & this 6 inch ball does fit, just barely. I wish someone made a 5 1/2 inch diameter ball. They do sell a square/ rectangular solid shaped ball which would probably fit and give extra buoyancy power also. This 6 inch ball also crowds the inside of the tank and causes me to use less water when I flush the commode; it prevents all the water from flowing out the flapper hole in the bottom of the tank also, which means there is always a little down pressure on the flapper to prevent it also from leaking.

Good quality material, not the cheap, thin, easy to crack stuff

This worked great with the Kerick valve I also bought. I could have used a smaller sphere though. I only have about 40 pounds pressure. This valve probably would also work well at 100 pounds pressure.

It’s a float. I returned it without using it, but it looks fine.
