The material cost to do this essential task this is very reasonable. In fact, once you own the reel, it’s almost free. At Keson, we’ve taken the time to learn a lot about chalk line reels from end-users. As the only US manufacturer of chalk and chalk line reels, we are in a unique position to interact and respond with the people who build in and build up our communities. These builders have told us a lot about what’s important in a chalk line reel, and what works and what doesn’t. We continuously add to and improve our chalk and chalk line reels based on the feedback from end-users. Somewhere between a felt-tip marker and a chisel tip marker, lies line left by our bold string. This string is more often used in higher traffi c areas and outdoors.

This product works very well but it does let a lot of chalk come out when you are stretching out the line and it's pretty bulky to have in a framing bag.

it says in the description that it doesn’t come with chalk so I also ordered some nice red chalk. i overfilled it but the string didn’t jam up when I reeled it in. the 100ft string is woven tightly like a rope and is a little thicker than ideal. i had a cheaply made one that I got a lot of use out of it but i couldn’t pull it very tight without it breaking. but this one feels much tougher.

I bought this to make chalk lines but there was no chalk in this. Lucklily I had some chalk to color the string to make the chalk lines. The reel and string was sturdy so I was able to make some straight lines & was happy the way it came out.

This line doesn’t go bad, I’ve had up to 20 different chalk lines and while they work well for a while the gears will ultimately give out, leaving the chalk line useless.This line is great, I like how it keeps working in the rain, gears don’t do well in the rain but this line has no problem. Fantastic.Just have to get fast at winding up now lol
