Bought a relatively new house with really high ceilings only to realize that the previous homeowner had replaced the hard wired detectors with cheapo battery operated units that ate batteries. After having had to remove a few high detectors that inevitably went off in the middle of the night and ultimately did not go back up, I decided to replace them with the OEM Kidde units the house came with. Was able to plug these in and away I went. A hard wired detector with a high quality long life backup battery should be happy on my 12 foot ceiling for a least a couple years- maybe even three...

Bought for a replacement as these only last ten year! At ten years an obnoxious sound starts and increases. Be aware that in order to install the replacement you must get an adapter from the manufacturer-it should be free

Very easy to install and price was decent. The solid green light is easy to see and comforting knowing they are on the job keeping me safe.

These have increased in price over the past few years, but still work great. Easy to install and replacing the ones that died right after the 10 year expiration. Works with all the other detectors hardwired in my house.

Have you ever come home to that annoying beeping sound? Luckily I had a spare smoke detector/carbon monoxide detector on standby. Installed and solved. I used this one to replace my back up and was surprised to see a new and improved version. My favorite part is it does not use a 9 V battery, but two AA batteries which everyone typically has on hand.

Needs an adapter that is sold separately for easy install if you are replacing the detector
