It monitors smoke and carbon monoxide; plus monitors Total Hydrocarbon, humidity, temperature and gives the ability to see trend.Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are also sent to my phone by text.

I purchased 3 of the smoke/co2/air quality alarms, they were easy to install and setup. I thought the air quality alerts and co2 were pretty nifty. That's where the good stops.Within the first month we had a false alarm on one at 2am, the kids were crying and no one went back to sleep.Weeks later we got a 2nd false alarm, we were on vacation. I was stressed the rest of vacation about my house alarming when no one was there.I called Kidde who noted "false alarms happen" and specifically during storms and high humidity. I un-installed all 3 and am returning to Amazon, Kidde was no help. They advised to blow them out, but they false alarmed within weeks of install already, blowing them out already as a step is ridiculous. Of the 3 units, 2 of them triggered a false alarm, its not as if I had 1 defective unit. Will not buy Kidde again.

This device was really easy to connect, both in terms of wiring it to the wall (I did need to do some simple wire splicing because my old smoke detector was not the same plug but had the same 3 wires) and in connecting the app.The app itself is a little weird: it has my overall home health rated at orange (warning-level) safety rather than green, just because the temperature is slightly hot on the ceiling -- around 79 degrees F in the summer. I think that's probably a pretty normal temperature but OK app. I wish you could adjust this, or that it was less restrictive: 90 degrees, ok yeah that's a problem, but not 79.The air quality indicator seems cool, I can't tell about its accuracy yet though but the number does fluctuate and it seems to be measuring stuff. It's always been in the green range which is expected, but will be interested to see how it reacts if there is excessive pollutants at some point in the future. One minor complaint: at the price point I'd love it if this unit looked a little sleeker: more elegant and modern, rather than looking like a child's Alexa or something. It doesn't look BAD, but it doesn't look good either. Which...fine, for a smoke detector it's not worth deducting a star here, but there is room for improvement. I find the non-smart Kidde detectors to be more visually appealing than this one.

The installation process went smoothly for me. I purchased the adapters for the older Kidde house wiring. I removed the old unit, took off the old mounting ring, and reversed the process to install the new one. The QR code directed me to the app, and I completed my entire house installation within a couple of hours. The phone software is functional and flexible enough to organize things. When attempting to use the Indoor Air Quality feature, they require an "upgrade plan" for which there is an additional charge that I have not yet opted for. Aside from that, I have not experienced any issues with them.

I put these in my southern winter home for a couple reasons.First the previous detectors had reached their end of life alarms.Second to be able to monitor from afar in the off season.Third I've never had tVOCs before.I've seen reviews saying that the tVOC reading is bogus, but I beleive this reading is accurate enough, but varies a lot durring the day. So far I haven't seen any information that says short term exposure to higher numbers is as truely bad. I see a bad rating when cooking with doors and windows closed for example and after our unit was closed up for a few months, but all returned to good after a while.

Was looking for an alternative to the Nest just to save cost and also add an AiQ sensor throughout the house. I put these in all bedrooms. But kept Nest protects for common areas and hallways, mainly for the pathway lighting since these do not have that option.I have solid wireless coverage in my house so I had no problems with connecting these to my wireless IoT network. The app seems to work fine. I'm not sure if the AiQ info is that great, but it's interesting anyway. No problems with false positives and unlike the Nest these can pull signals in from any detector. So in the case of a Nest Protect detecting something, these will also sound across the signal wire. That being said, it won't work the opposite direction, as Nest Protects will only communicate with other Nest devices. These have verbal queues and colored rings and are quite loud. These are also smart and the app will notify you which alarm the detection came from.

I so much wanted to love these, but unfortunately that's not the case.I am deducting 3 stars.1 star removed because the IAQ reports "Bad" if the temp reads 80 degrees or higher. Duh Kidde engineers!! It's mounted on the wall 16 feet from the floor (cathedral ceilings) and we keep the AC set at 73 degrees.I removed another star because the colored ring (green, yellow, red) ONLY lights up if the ambient light is bright enough. There's a light sensor that dima or turns off the ring if it thinks it's nighttime. Duh Kidde engineers!! I prefer to know by sight if they are working or not.The third star I removed because neither of these settings can be changed or fixed! The app now continuously says the IAQ is bad or moderate, and none of the LED status rings light up unless I keep bright lights on near them.I sure hope that this gets fixed ASAP in a firmware update. 🤞[Update]After just one week, one of the 4 units "lost it's connection to the cloud" according to the app. None of the features are working now. I verified that it has network and Internet access, and is connected on 2.4 with a strong connection. The only way to reset this is to get up on a ladder (mounted 14 feet up the wall) and reset the power connection!!Deducting one more star!!
