Good price for a four pack. With the pigtail adapter, made upgrading from old Kidde system a breeze. Old backplates worked so it took about a minute to swap out each alarm. Ten year battery backup is nice, as the alarm will need replaced at that time anyways.

Replaced old smoke detectors with this model. Connector was different so I had to cut the power and rewire the included wiring harness. Replaced 5 x smoke detectors within an hour. Good instructions and was very easy to install. I chose this model due to the internal battery. If all goes well, I will not have to worry about changing a battery for 10 years. Once the battery is no longer functional, then it will be time to replace the smoke detectors. Highly recommend this product if you need to replace detectors old and outdated detectors.

AS discribed and easy to install! A huge value at this price! No more buying batteries every fall, as this battery back up last for 10 years. I'm not an electrician and I was able to install so easy and I installed them in a daisy chain (they are all linked so if 1 goes off they all do.) Instructions are easy to understand, and easy to follow. I didn't know that you should replace a smoke detector every 10 years becuase of dedgerdation of the detector, so when these expire it will have saved me lots. I highly recommend this smoke detector and the Kiddie company. The seller packaged them well so they arrived undamaged and in great condition.

I just directed my sister to buy 8 of these plus 1 smoke & carbon monoxide unit, plus 1 smoke & carbon monoxide with talking prompts unit from the same lineup from Kidde. All hardwired, all with the 10 year sealed backup battery, two with CO sensor as well, and one of those with talking feature.I wish they offered a dual sensor (ionization + photo electric) with the 10 year backup battery and hardwired. It's a big gap in the product lineup from Kidde.I really like the feature set of this lineup, except for lacking a dual sensor model. The closest thing they offer is the kidde pl2010, which uses AA batteries for the backup, and they are quite expensive ($56) for what they are, compared to competitive offerings.Compare that PL2010 to the First Alert BRK3120B which in a 6 pack is $28 per unit, dual sensor, also with AA backup batteries, but has a convenient side door access to those batteries. I came very close to just doing all first alert units at my sister's house, and then buying lithium AA batteries for the backup batteries. They won't last 10 years, but they'll last a lot longer than alkalines and the first alert easy side access door makes it a snap to change them in a few years. But I really wanted the 10 year backup battery, and First Alert didn't offer it on hardwired. I also considered doing 4 of the units with the First Alert and the rest in Kidde, but I didn't want to mix brands on an interconnected system, even though in theory, that should be fine. What I'm putting in will be better than what my sister had in place, but less than ideal, with no dual sensor units. On my own house, I put all First Alert units in 2 years ago, using the non-hardwired, 10 year battery models, some of which were the non-hardwired version of that dual sensor BRK3120B, and then some single sensor smoke only alarms, and a talking smoke plus carbon monoxide unit. I've never had a false alarm on the first alerts, and they all test fine. I'm 2 years into that installation. I did have one first alert that didn't work properly out of the box, but they replaced it under warranty - I had to call in and talk to them to get that done with First Alert.Dropping review by 1 star because the lineup doesn't include the dual sensor smoke/fire detectors. Ideally, you want a system that has some photoelectric only, some dual sensor, and some smoke plus carbon monoxide units. Also potentially heat sensor unit(s) in the garage and other selected locations where a smoke detector isn't the right thing to install. It's best to have hardwired interconnected units that all sound if any one alarm triggers an alert. Many states now require that and a sealed 10 year backup battery for new construction because it's just better.

Basic smoke detector in terms of functionality. Good value for the money, given it’s a reputable brand. Hopefully it will last the 10 years it advertises as the battery life, since keeping replacing batteries on units located on high ceilings is a pain.

Easy installation even after having to change the connection plug. Everything was included. Took about 1 hour to change 5 including the connections. I made this purchase because of the 10 year batter life, no more 3am chirps when one of the 9v batteries goes bad.
