I had no idea that smoke detectors had to be replaced like every 10 years. We bought our house 5 years ago and all of a sudden, the alarms started going off. After we all had heart attacks I discovered how old they are. Well, time to replace them all. This is a great option because it covers smoke and carbon monoxide but has a 10-year battery! There's nothing more annoying that the "chirp". No wiring needed, super easy to install, did all 10 of them in about 20 minutes. Couldn't be easier.

I love these detectors! I installed them around my home and they helped me detect a CO leak in my laundry room from the dryer!

These have been great so far. I bought and installed nine units. My son lit a fire in the fireplace and had trouble getting it going, smoking up the house. Two units sounded (the rest were behind closed doors or on other floors), and when the smoke cleared, they shut off by themselves. Since then we’ve had fireplace fires but no alarms set off, which means they are not hyperactive like the smoke alarms of old. I’m very satisfied with this product.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who made this mistake but be aware that if you're looking for hardwired smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to replace existing detectors these will not meet current code because they are battery operated only

Bought after our old ones (of 10 years) finally needed replaced and these were SO easy to install. Husband had zero complaints which was a win for me as well as helping me to sleep peacefully knowing that we are taking preventative measures.

I accidentally got these instead of the hardwired with 10 year battery, but it's gonna do since I don't want to drive 20 miles to town to return them. The base is almost 1" smaller diameter than the old base and have a different way of holding the smoke detector so I could not use the old ones. I have 4 circles around them that need repainting. The old base had 3 sets of holes these only have 2 and not the ones I needed so I had to drill new holes to match the electrical boxes they mount to. Hopefully they work for 10 years because they were a pain to put up and I still have to paint when I get to it. At least I won't get awakened at 3 in the morning with low battery chirp all through the house.
