. How High-Flow Technology Works
How does the K&N 57-3050 increase horsepower? By eliminating airflow obstruction in your engine. Restriction of air flow between an air filter and an engine robs even the most powerful engine of horsepower. K&N air intake kits virtually eliminate air path restriction by replacing the standard air filter and the entire air path to the engine. The aerodynamically engineered conduit that makes up the 57-3050 drives a massive amount of air into an engine, which translates into power. This conduit begins with an oversized conical high-flow air filter. This larger filter can fit into the engine compartment using factory holes and mounting points because the K&N 57-3050 replaces your stock intake tube, and air box. This provides more airflow at lower restriction than a standard filter, limited by the size of the factory air box. The oversize air filter also captures and holds more dirt, increasing the service life before a cleaning is required (up to 100,000 miles). The filter is also isolated from high engine temperature by a heat shield designed to lower the temperature of the air entering the engine, which increases horsepower.
The filter attaches to a rotationally molded tube made from nonmetallic interlaced high density polyethylene (HDPE). This allows for precision shaping of the tube to reduce turbulence and accelerate airflow into the engine. This is why some K&N tubes have unique shapes or indentations that are specifically engineered for each engine configuration. Finally, the tube is connected to the engine with adapters made from high strength materials such as silicon and reinforced nylon and ensures long life. Put all this together and you have the best high-flow intake system available today.
Street Legal
Many K&N intake systems are street legal in all 50 states and include a California Air Resource Board (CARB) Executive Order (EO) number that ensures the kit has been tested to comply with emissions standards. EO numbers apply to the kit as well as the year, make and model it is being installed on. Systems with no EO number are street legal in most states but may not be used on emissions controlled vehicles in the state of California or other states adopting California emission standards. Instructions are pretty basic, so definitely watch a couple YouTube vids first to make sure you’re prepared. Hardest thing to get around was the mass air sensor harness; there’s a tricky little security clip you have to remove first before the wiring comes off. Other than that, it’s a pretty straight forward install, and the results were 100% worth the price. I put this on a 6.0 vortec and the added power was immediately noticeable even at lower speeds. It also added a distinct rumble at 3000+ RPMs - I’m having a hard time not throwing the pedal down! Great no-brainer addition to your truck whether it’s a daily or project car.

I put it in my 06 escalade. It made a noticeable increase in HP, and I love the sound of a cold air intake. K&N does a great job with there intakes. It was easy to put together. This is my 3rd one I've got for my different vehicle.

I purchased this for my '05 Avalanche 5.3L. As stated on the page it was very easy to install. I think it took me a little less than the 90 minutes stated in the instructions. I noticed an immediate increase in the amount of get up on the highway. I also have a Gibson Dual Extreme Exhaust system on my truck and on the highway it you give it a little gas the roar from the intake completely drowns out the exhaust. I haven't put enough gas through it yet to speak to any mpg increase but I reset my mpg monitor on my truck when I installed it and it does seem to have gone up. Although so far for the first week I've had it installed I've been to into the gas to help my mpg :). I totally recommend this to anyone looking for a quick increase in hp and a little noise to boot. One piece of advice be careful when you are attaching the Mass Airflow Sensor to the mounting plate. The MAS is made of a plastic housing so the screws never really get tight. I had to watch carefully while tightening to make sure I didn't crack it.

Wow is this kit cool. I was already aware of the K&N benefits having purchased replacement filters for my other vehicles. This time I decided to try this entire replacement kit on my 2005 Chevrolet Silverado with a 5.3 liter V-8. Note that I also installed a Flowmaster exhaust system as well. Man, this baby not only looks bad_ss but performs amazing. It installed very easily in aprox. 45 minutes. I took my time and was not rushing anything. When I fired up my truck it thanked me right away. You could hear how happy it was to breath freely. I have a nice increase in horsepower and torque. I don't know exactly how much but I can feel the difference. I accidentally burned a little rubber.

I have an 06 Sierra with the 5.3 liter also. Truck is a crew cab. The installation was easy and quick. The thing I noticed right away was the difference in power and response on acceleration. I had heard that the engine runs a bit louder, but that is only when you put your foot in it. I have heard some say that the transmission shifts smoother also, and I found the same to be true with mine.I was expecting a little bit better gas mileage from what others have said. I also replaced my spark plugs with NGK iridiums and MSD spark plug wires. I have noticed an increase in gas mileage, but not the 2 MPGs listed earlier. I have only had this on for about 2-3 weeks, so maybe I need more observation time. I think right now I'm probably getting about 1/2 to 1 additional MPG with the cold air intake, spark plugs, and wires.I have now been using this for about 2 years. There is an increase in mpg. I would guess that it is about 1 mpg in the city and maybe 2 on the highway. I have noticed with my truck that the octane of the gas makes the most difference though. With this filter and 93 octane I can get about 22 mpg if I stay at 65 or below. I did just make a trip where I averaged 70-75mph and my mpg averaged about 21.5 (with 4 adults in the truck). Not too bad for a full size truck.

Package came and I was excited to put this on my 6.0l Escalade, had everything disassembled on OEM setup, opened the box...no housing plates. Filter, tube, and fittings were there, just no housing plates. What a huge disappointment. No customer service on the weekends, means I won't be able to get them and put it on before my Thanksgiving trip next week. Super disappointed. Shouldn't have to worry about all the parts being there when ordering from a reputable international brand.

I an very happy with the product, it was easy to install (30 mins) and looks so much better than the stock air box. It gave my V8 a deeper growl that sounds much better when I put my foot down, as such I am doing that more and gas mileage has gone down slightly as a result. The next step is to put on a catback exhaust and get it tuned to really make the most of this intake. The sound alone is worth the price so far.

Installed easily on a 2006 Chevy 5.3, the extra power was noticed but the sound under hard acceleration was awesome, don't get an annoying drone heading down the highway but when you put your foot into it you get a very aggressive sound. Paired with superchips Flashpaq F5.

Why didn't I put this in YEARS ago? I was running a K&N filter in my stock air box... and this made a noticeable difference in the high rpm range. Oh, and it growls like a beast. Very happy.
