I’ve been knitting a long, long time and fixed things the hardest way ever! Since I’m in my 70’s (dementia sneaking in), my new best friends are lifelines, youtube, and this book! The pictures are clear, precise and easy enough for me to understand! The spiral book lays flat easily for me to look at over-and-over again too! Thank you! Get this book and keep it by you, you won’t regret it.I’ll admit I still have a problem picking up garter stitches, but I’ve yet to just turn the work around and pick it up like a knit stitch.Knitting blankets for new born kittens, even with simple garter stitches, sadly I still make mistakes! Even a kitten deserves a perfect row! Plus I’m just stubborn enough that I don’t want to give away something with errors in it. Now I feel armed enough to fix my work! (Can’t remember if they are called Pet Shelters that sell/give away kittens, but some give little blankets with them. So volunteers knit them to give to the shelters. So if you don’t know what to knit, these work out perfectly!)Thank you to the author!

I am a master knitter. However--there are things I don't do often that I need a refresher on and that for me is what makes this book so useful. Yes, I could puzzle it out myself, but to be able to flip to the right page is a lot better! A lot of it is beginner stuff--which broadens its appeal significantly. I have found it handy to keep in my knitting bag and it opens flat for ease of use. As well as the occasional refresher for myself, it is very helpful when I'm explaining something to a fellow knitter with less experience, who may be stuck on some fine point of technique. I think every knitter should have this book. One person said it disappointed her because she still had to rip back. I always say you aren't really a knitter unless you can rip with impunity. We all make mistakes and pulling out incorrect knitting is part of the process. At least the author shows you how to insert a lifeline so you can rip and not worry about going back any farther than you need to.

I'm by no means an expert knitter. In fact, I still consider myself a beginner. I already have the Vogue Knitting Quick Reference guide, which covers pretty much everything in this book. I was hoping for the "next step" in knit fixes. Unfortunately this book does not provide. Also, if you're looking to save money, much of what can be found here can also be found on the internet (with video even). On the plus side, the book is really well put together. The pictures are very clear and the instructions easy to follow. Also, it's a great design - like the vogue guide it has a spiral binding that lays flat while you fiddle with your sticks trying to figure out what went wrong!Bottom line: It's a good beginner's guide book, but others cover the same issues and more. Meanwhile, I'm still searching for a book that explains how to avoid holes when using short rows in the round...

I just got this (I am a new knitter) and it is pretty great. It has good illustrations of problems and clear instructions and illustrations of how to fix them. This is important. When I started up, I was making a mistake but could not figure out what mistake it was, exactly, that I was making (as I never found them until I was 8 or 10 rows farther on) and could never find a photo or illustration that looked like my mistake, so hard to figure out how to fix it, you know? This book is good for that mystery error you need to identify. (And fixing it after you do.) This version was also spiral bound so that it sits flat while you are trying to read and knit at the same time.

Awesome book! As a new knitter I was constantly frustrated not being able to fix my own mistakes. This is the best book I've seen for not only being able to correct the mistakes, but to understand what I did wrong so I can (hopefully) stop doing it! The illustrations are good photographs as well as drawings. I have recommended it over and over to new knitters, and they all agree it saved many hours of frustration. My LYS started carrying the book based on my recommendation. If you are a new knitter, GET THIS BOOK!

I taught myself to knit from books when I was a teenager. Now that I'm in my 50s I've knitted for many years, but still didn't know some of the common "tricks of the trade" I might have learned if I had been taught by an old pro or if I had taken classes. This book fills in the gaps and gives me lots of ideas about how to work around problems. It also increased my understanding of some technical details of knitting that I would never have figured out on my own. Easy to read, well organized, and a useful reference book to keep on hand.

This is a good basic help for most problems one tends to run into while knitting. However, it is not as detailed as other similar books. The size is a bit bulky to carry with one in his/her knitting bag. The spinal type is handy, and does enable the book to lay flat. Overall a good basic book, just not comprehensive enough for "everything".

I have a tendency to do a combo error thing. It's not just one problem, but I seem to have mastered combining this dropped stitch with that "really weird variation" and end up with curious stitches. This book has really helped me visualize my stitches and what happens when I make a single mistake. Then, I can usually fix the error. I doubt there's a book to take care of my combo problem, but I do love this book and since I'm new, I need to have the visual of what stitches look like when they are wrong AND right.

Easy to read, well ilustrated and ideal for me to repair some holes in my jumpers.

Good colourful pictures with easy to read text. I was a little surprised at the limited number of 'fixes'. A few pages of casting on and binding off that are not 'fixes' and belong elsewhere. I wanted to quote where it suggested a dropped decrease be ripped out and re-knit, but there is NO INDEX so after flipping back and forth a few times I gave up. No index! Maybe I'll downgrade from three stars to two. There are better books out there.
