Seems good .It was easy to break off the tang , which I hope does not mean the metal it is made of is cheap . Just used it once so far ,and have never used helicoils before . Comes in pretty good metal box kit

repaired 1 stripped out hole on a chevy 350 head. drill tap run tap in slowly making sure to keep oil on it. once thread you Can use the generic helicoil . I prefer to use insert but this time I did not want to make the casting weak. repair looks great

While reinstalling the governor on my Ford 8N tractor I found that the threads in one of the two mounting holes in the aluminum mounting plate were stripped. When the kit arrived, I removed the mounting plate and followed the enclosed instructions. Excellent repair. I was able to install the governor with no oil leaks.

This kit arrived too late to use but I can speak to the quality in relation to the comparison of the one I bought from Cdn tire. The one I had to buy to repair manifold studs on my little 2.8 duramax broke...multiple helicoils broke and so did the tool. The truck ended up at a repair shop when this kit arrived so I could compare the two before returning the other one. This one is easily on par or, in my opinion, better quality, than the other brand. The other brand coils seemed thinner and did not cut well. These helicoils seem more precise and the insertion tool seems more robust than the other brand. The other brand was not Cdn tire house brand but one they carry and did not have great reviews. Unfortunately it was what was available. I wish I had been able to wait as I think this would have been a far better solution. I'm sure there will be a time I need to use this but for now I can only speak to the relative appearance and feel of the the quality of it compared to one I used from a box store that failed.

The kit comes in a black rectangular tin. Inside you will find most of what you need to complete the job. I say 'most' because you will still require a power drill and also a thread tapping handle. You may technically tap the hole using a power drill and the tapping bit but I think its better done manually with a thread handle to make nice controlled turns.Anyways the kit itself is very utilitarian as the parts lack all the frills you might see with other tool kits. With that being said its really not an issue since looks don't mean everything in regards to tool performance. And these tools they give you do their job well so you can properly install the Helicoil. Obviously the time to get the job done depends on the material you will be drilling but these coils are able to get the job done. I was able to firmly install a Helicoil into metal and it stayed in place and held the bolt in nicely. I think Helicoils are kind of a cool system to being able to rethread worn out holes. Or to install metal threads into wood if you so desire.I think the downside is that you really don't get all that many Helicoils. 30 pieces is kind of a pathetic quantity and even though it is size specific I know it will get used up way too quickly. I'm not convinced each Helicoil has a high manufacturing cost such to warrant the high price of this kit. That would be my main criticism but otherwise this is a highly functional Helicoil kit.

I like the fact this came packaged properly and as a kit has a nice case to keep all you little coils and tools in one place now this kit is for repairing damaged or stripped internal threads and creating more durable threads and stronger ones, this kit also includes the installation tool the breaking pin tool one drill bit and one screw tap plus the the thread inserts and the durable case to hold all the goodies. I do like this kit and I definitely will be buying more kits from this seller because they simply work and i recommend to the diyer that has basically everything in the car category but this is a must because there will always be broken bilts and nuts to fix or replace and this kit definitely helps with that.
