I bought this for my daughter because her she changed viola sizes and her old shoulder rest is not large enough. Her new viola is a 15 in, which works perfectly with this product. The adjustments are easy to make, it is easy to put on and take off, and it is very comfortable. This is a great product by Kun.

My wife wrote this review:I've only used this Kun viola shoulder rest a few weeks, but have had a Kun for my violin which I've used for years and always liked. It is made of different materials, but so far so good. The rigid curve on this shoulder rest makes my viola playing ergonomically more comfortable than the rubber collapsible Wolf shoulder rest I used before. I thought my viola was too large for me, but this shoulder rest took care of my problems.The adjustable width makes it fit my 16 1/2 viola. The legs are separate and screw in, so you can adjust the height somewhat. It fits in my case with the legs on, though if it is a problem you can remove the legs.

Been through several shoulder rests without finding comfort. This allows you to adjust it low enough for even people that have shorter necks and narrower shoulders. Very comfortable padding, the wood is attractive. It doesn't stay on well for the first couple of times but after the rubber feet break it, it stays on the viola wonderfully well. It's very sturdy, attractive, and highly adjustable. Very happy with this one!

We have tried every shoulder rest, and this has been our favorite. It is very comfortable and adjustable, grips my 16 inch Viola well. The slide on each end gives a perfect fit, and the legs adjust in every direction. The local music store wanted $65 for this item, so we were very happy to find it here for a fraction of the price.

A gorgeous, very aesthetically pleasing Shoulder rest. The wood makes a huge difference compared to the plastic kun model. One huge problem with this product is that, it needs to be correctly matched with the right Viola. The reason why i'm giving it a 4/5 is simply because it did not cooperate with my Viola. My viola in particular is, by itself, considered a bright, fast responding instrument, so with the addition of another component with the abilities to make an instrument even brighter, it in fact becomes a negative and the sound of the mid range tone which the Viola bares, becomes the bleeding of noise almost close to an outgoing Violin. This actually makes the shoulder rest "unforgiving" as every slight mistake (ex. accidental string touch) extremely obvious as the instrument becomes very sensitive.So my tip would be, if your instrument is slightly dim and slow responding this is definitely the product to buy, but if you're a case like mine, don't bother, you might as well pick up the violin.All in all its still best to try multiple shoulder rests, as you'll never exactly know which one will be the defining one for you.

My teacher recommended this one and it quickly replaced my other shoulder rests. It's really high quality and the shape is just perfect. Probably the best shoulder rest out there right now.

Kun price/performance balance is a good fit for students - both of my son's viola teachers have recommended them. So overall we are happy with the Super 5/4 Kun.The feet on the shoulder rest we received are not as pictured, though. Instead they are the older (and inferior) style that appear to be pieces of rubber tubing stretched over a hard plastic frame. (see pics, beige foot is the new style, orange is the rubber tubing).My son's viola teacher noticed this and told him the rubber tubing style feet can damage the instrument's finish over time (at least in her experience) which may be why they are not made that way anymore. The feet on his last 4/4 Kun (about 3 years old) threaded in perfectly though so we swapped them out rather than dealing with returning to Amazon and trying to find the better model.So I would check with seller on what they are actually shipping before placing order if this is a concern.

I have used a Kun shoulder rest for violin for decades. I've been so happy with my violin rest that when I needed a viola shoulder rest this was my first choice. I am every bit as happy with the viola rest. Easy to use and does the job. And, not surprisingly, there have been improvements in the design in the last 20 years.

El artÃculo tiene mal la descripción. Pone que es para viola de 4/4 y es para 5/4. Por lo que no me sirve, queda muy grande. Se lo comuniqué al vendedor y no me hizo caso. Me dice que me tiene que valer porque hasta 5/4 y no es asÃ. Es a partir de 5/4 en adelante, se puede agrandar pero no acortar. No ajusta para nada en mi viola.Ahora me toca devolverla y pagar yo los gastos de envÃo lo que no me parece bien pues es un error en la descripción.

This is a sturdy and well priced shoulder rest, adjustable enough to fit snugly on my somewhat unorthodox viola. Provides good support for even a large instrument. It lies alongside the neck inside the case.
