I love this rain gauge! I stuck it down in a planter outside my sliding door on the patio. It's super easy to read from inside the house and it's accurate. I love the flexibility that it can be hard mounted or stuck in the ground. The only tip I would mention is from a friend of mine who also has this gauge: If you live in a colder climate, be sure to either take it up for the winter or be sure to empty it regularly in freezing temperatures. Because it's plastic (albeit thick sturdy plastic) if you have a fair amount of precipitation and then it freezes, it may crack your gauge from expansion. It happened to my friend, but it didn't phase him. He bought another one exactly like it and now he empties it promptly (which really you should do anyway to have accurate readings haha). So, I think this gauge is an exceptional value for the money.

This gauge is as presented online. It is easy to read and should be easy to install. However, it would have been great if they would have included 2 mounting screws. My old ones are too large for the holes on the new one, so I had to make a trip to the hardware store. Other than that, it's great.

This is so much better than the old rain gauge we had that was hard to read unless you were really close to it...We wish we would have got one of these a long time ago.

Easy to see how much water is in the gauge. But after two years of use sun fades the measurement readingdisplay and plastic turns yellow.

It's very simple and effective. It's my second one. Unfortunately I forgot to remove it for winter and it cracked :(

Whenever we get a good rainfall I'm always curious to know how much rain we actually got right here, compared to what the weatherman was forecasting. Now I can tell!When there is water inside there is a difference in the magnifying of the scale through the water so it is super easy to see exactly where the top of the water is to get an accurate reading.It seems pretty solid for something that looks like clear acrylic but the material is thick enough to make it quite sturdy.The only drawback is that it only measures in inches, and of course, here in Canada you never hear any mention of inches in the weather forecasts anymore. I should have checked that more carefully when I ordered it. However, lots of people would rather have inches so they will be extra happy not to have it cluttered up with metric measurements.
