I love this thermometer- a lovely decoration in my kitchen window. However, we had a -18 degrees Farenheit snow here in the mountains and it broke the thermometer. I'd buy again and just bring it inside for this occasional extreme cold. If you don't live where it gets this cold, this a great decorative outdoor thermometer.

I wasn't going to write anything and just eat the cost of this but seeing as it's become useless... It had been fine up until a very cold night. A few degrees different than my outdoor digitals but that was ok. A couple of weeks back the temperature dropped to 20 below--I was up at 2 AM and checked. When I checked the temp in the morning on this thermometer, I saw that the "mercury" had split apart. It shows that it can got to -22 or less. That shouldn't have been a problem. Obviously it was. I brought it in and warmed it to room temperature. I've shaken it to try to get the fluid down. I've tried warming it to 110 degrees. Different things all to no avail. So now it's just an ornament. No idea whether it would have failed at "only" -10, 0, 10,... What about someone in Phoenix and 120 in the shade. Would it fail then?As for the suction cups, they are fine. Clean the surface well before attaching. It's winter and was cold when I attached it to the window. It didn't fall off at 20 below. After I tried to fix it, I simply reinstalled it. It's been as high as 58 degrees and as low as 10 since that. There have also been very high wind gusts as well as snow and freezing rain. The suctions cups have held. I just took it off to take the picture and write this.

I love these kind of thermometers and have had several over the years. Even though I can see thetemperature via my i-phone, I love standing at my kitchen sink and be able to see the temp outside. And I love cardinals. So glad they still make these. My mother always had one.... so that's where it all started.

I have only had it up for a week but so far no problems staying attached to the window. The display is easy to read and seems to be accurate. The cardinal red is fantastic- not "too red" and not washed out looking. For the price I highly recommend

I was so disappointed bc my deceased father loved Cardinals and this thermometer was made in the town he was born (LaCrosse, Wisconsin)But when I picked the box up off of my concrete porch it was rattling around in the box. When I opened it, the one THIN PIECE of paper in the box with it was not even wrapped around the thermometer.I was so excited that I opened it anyway, and then saw that the mercury was leaking and I found a crack in the glass.
