After using real mesquite charcoal I could never go back to briquettes. The flavor it imparts to meats and vegetables is delicious and the heat generated sears meat beautifully.

I use a ceramic grill, and this lump charcoal is amazing. The mesquite flavor I get when I cook ribs is incomparable.

Love this for a small portable grill. But some of the pieces are HUGE. Would love to see more uniform, more briquette-sized chunks.

I just ordered some from Amazon because I can't find any locally. Have used this for several years now and it's all I'll use. Will never use that K******** garbage again. FANTASTIC smokey mesquite flavor. Sometimes I use BBQ sauce too, but VERY LITTLE as this adds a tone of great BBQ flavor just on its own. A little hard to get started - use a chimney starter and LOTS of newspaper. Tends to crackle and spit a bit as it gets going - so stay vigilant and keep an eye on the fire as it gets going. Don't light these around anything that could be ignited by a stray ember - as you'll probably get a few pops and shooting pieces.

Way better than briquettes. Briquettes are way too hot (so your food is constantly bursting into flames if you're not careful). These make a gentle, even heat—perfect for cooking. They also smell great and definitely improve the flavor of the food. Definitely worth the extra money. I'll never go back.
