We tested on the paint for which we ordered. According to the color scale, the paint was lead based. We tried it on other items and received the same result. We even tested the swab on a milk gallon. It tested positive for lead as well. This is a true rip off.

I recently tried out a lead test kit and I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical at first. Initially, I tested two items, and there were no changes to the swabs, which made me question the kit's effectiveness. However, after doing some research and testing items that are more likely to contain higher levels of lead, the swabs worked quite quickly.I used the test on several plumbing fixtures, and to my surprise, they tested high for lead. This was quite eye-opening and made me appreciate the importance of such testing in our homes. The activation process of the swabs is pretty straightforward—just dip them in water for a few seconds, tap off the excess water, and rub the swabs on the item you want to test.The kit is easy to use and provides quick results, which is a huge plus. While it didn't pick up lead on every item I tested, it did identify lead in the more obvious places, which is reassuring. It’s a handy tool to have, especially if you're concerned about lead exposure in your home.

These work very well and are so easy to use. The vile provided to keep a little vinegar in is super handy. I would have preferred just being able to use water but I had vinegar on hadn't so it was no big deal. I do think these are accurate and work well. I have so many things I want to use these on and will continue to test things as they come into the house. Not just antiques and thrift store finds, but even new items that I have concerns about. These are handy and affordable enough that I will keep some on hand from now on.
