I purchased this to be able to make circles on a whiteboard. I got so I could specifically draw out the orbits of the planets in our solar system. I was able to do this quickly and easily and maintain a relative distance between all of the orbits. My only complaint regarding this item would be that the suction cup adheres to the whiteboard too well! When trying to remove it from the whiteboard I almost pulled the board off of the wall. (The whiteboard, while attached to the wall, wasn’t “fixed” to the wall.)

Only thing that would make this better would be to make the whole bigger for the fatter dry erase markers that most teachers use. If you get this, you will need the skinnier ones. But overall it’s a great instruction piece that kids like to use, as well.

When I received the compass, the red slider had popped out of the main body. However, that popped right back in and works fine. Also, I had some of the same issues as others with the knob, but eventually managed to get the knob to turn on the screw threads and it now works fine. I actually bought it for use in D&D and similar games for drawing circles on a vinyl mat. It works quite well for that using my finest-tipped pens and the suction cup means that it holds well on the vinyl without having to worry about poking a hole in the vinyl. It's almost too big for most needs, as standard "1 in equals 5 ft" mapping means that it can do a circular room 340 ft in diameter. If you're a GM looking to draw a bunch of circles or arcs it'll do so quickly and accurately. It's definitely too big to try to use for most spell effects; if you really want to precisely place a fireball, for example, a similar product that's only 6 or 10 inches long will probably work better.

This is just what I needed for making my barn quilts. The only thing I wish I could do is easily remove theSuction cup so ICan line up my center point better

I needed something to draw large radii and this fit the bill. I am unable to speak to the suction as I used it on wood. It was easy to lightly press on the suction cup portion and mark the wood using a Sharpie. The circle portions came out perfect every time.

I have three of these tools. Two of them work perfectly fine, but the third has the same issue I've seen on a couple other reviews. The red middle area which allows the radius of the circle to change would not move, and when I attempted to unscrew it, it broke. Unfortunately it is too late to return the product but I am hopeful that I can contact the seller and get a replacement. For the two that I have that DO work, they are a wonderful and easy to use tool. It seems that the construction is not equally distributed among this entire product line.

Opened it up and right out of the packaging it doesn't work. The "Screw Cap" you are supposed to use to tighten the fixed point for drawing a circle won't move. Can't tighten or untighten the cap at all. Make the device worthless. Also, why are the holes so small to put your dry erase marker in? You'd think they would accommodate a standard EXPO dry erase marker somehow-------------------------UPDATE - Got a replacement in the mail today - DOESN'T WORK! Wow. AMAZON, please remove this garbage from your store. If you can't screw the red part down, there is no way to secure it to actually draw a circle which is the entire point of this device! Quality Control??
