Key component to a reserve glove system in Using as an overmitt for size 8 Dachstein 4 ply mittens. The combination provides superor warmth tore-warm hands while winter hiking in NH White Mountains. (Too hot for ascents). Overmitts are supple and not too bulky. No squeeze around the hand over thick mittens. Treat with snow seal! I put hand warmers between shell and mitt at the start of a hike. Otherwise, you will suffer until your hands can warm up the mitts from whatever is the outside air temp.

If you are planning to line these shells with thick wool knit, I suggest ordering one size bigger. My wife knit a liner with worsted weight wool yarn and ordered a medium (rather than small as per measurement), and medium is right for her. The goatskin leather seems to be good quality, but time will tell how it holds up.
