Two Ways of Power Supply
This book light is not rechargeable, can be powered by 3*AAA battery, or you can use the USB cable to power the reading light via connecting to the computer / power bank / AC adapter to the outlet.
Power Circuit Function
When the battery and USB cable deliver the power at the same time, the battery power will be cut off to prevent the battery from safety hazard. So you can just leave the batteries inside the light while using USB cable.

When I first reviewed this light, I had only just gotten it. I have been using it for a few weeks now and absolutely love it. I use it on the amber setting usually to read before going to sleep. I use it for both books on paper and for reading on my phone so I don't have to get out of bed to turn off the lights when I finish. When reading on my phone, I clip this light to my bedding. I use rechargeable batteries, and they have lasted for many hours with no discernible dimming of the light at all. I highly recommend this book light!

I use this book light without batteries in it, plugged into a bedside USB outlet. I really like its light weight and brightness. Ways to cost-reduce, simplify, and make this device more effective: get rid of the different colors and have only the bright white output, eliminate the battery case entirely to reduce size and weight, and make the power cord just a little longer. Still, this is a good product, as is.

This is excellent.The setting all work. And the top setting is VERY Bright, even for 3-AAA batteries!The USB charger adapter cable is super handy. This one goes with me Air traveling for sure!Thank you.

This was so, so, so, so, so, so close! It is difficult to find a clip on book light that allows use of batteries. But goodness does this drain batteries so fast. I used 3 400 mAh batteries and it only lasted roughly 3 hours using the second mode that uses the 2 led warm lights. With 1,100 mAh batteries (and 3 of them), I estimate you get about 2.8x longer life with them.Certainly, about 8-9hrs should last with higher end batteries, but given how fast this light drains it, it could be averaged to 5hrs; however, I will note that about the 2 hour mark, the light wasn't as bright as freshly charged batteries. It was about half as strong and you will definitely notice the fading light as the battery drains.I like it. It is a bit heavy because of the 3 AAA batteries. This is where physics comes to play. I am not sure myself, but I believe it has to do with the leverage if how you have you place the light clip itself. On my Kindle 3rd gen, I have to set it to the corners so that I can view all of the text without my view being obstructed. The 3rd gen kindle has a keyboard, so it is a bit longer than the current gens. The added weight gives it a bit of strain to the wrist much sooner. However, when I use it with my case, that is not an issue as I can strap it to the back. Holding it with two hands also alleviates the tension on the wrists. The same can be said with books. The book in the picture I used (Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen) is 5"x8" and a bit heavier on its own. Having to place the light on the middle of one side of the book will put some strain for one handed users. You can put it near the center/spine of the book; just giving my 2 cents on my position).The clip is pretty fat, but it can open rather wide to roughly an inch and a half.I say it's worth it for the price. Either bring a lot of batteries, or a dedicated power bank if you're a heavy reader and going out on a long trip that doesn't fulfill your lightning needs. Personally, I don't like having any bright, focused light shine in my eyes and being able to position the neck and light onto the book in warm light so that it doesn't hit me is wonderful.

I really like the LEPOWER Clip on Book Light for multiple reasons. Because the price was quite pleasing, I purchased 4 lights. They're really handy and the clip is strong. One I use while reading a book. One I use with a clipboard while doing my technical drawings for my quilting patterns. One I use on my bedside nightstand for an easy to reach light before turning in for the night. The fourth one my husband now uses while working on his modelling crafts. He likes the 3 intensities the button on top provides.
