About this item

  • Small Size: Installed sensor appears almost invisible
  • Learned and adjusted settings saved in protected memory
  • Select the approximate area needed. Units from 500 to 2000 sq. ft. available
  • Accurate, consistent switching: occupant complaints are eliminated; lights are on when room is occupied, off when empty. Annoying false-offs are minimized and lights on at night is eliminated.
  • Ambient light recognition: the photocell prevents lights from turning on when room is adequately lit by natural light.
  • Fast simple installation: easy ceiling mount, three wire connection (low voltage) and twist-lock sensor attachment
  • Maximum reliability, low cost: all digital circuitry uses a minimum of components.

Light Your Space Intelligently

Leviton’s ceiling mount occupancy sensor offers users a smart way to save energy in larger spaces, up to 1,000 square feet in area. Using both passive infrared (PIR) and ultrasonic (U/S) detection technologies, the OSC10-M0W occupancy sensor is perfect for areas such as cafeterias, classrooms, warehouses, offices with cubicles and more. Leviton’s ceiling mount occupancy sensors require a Leviton OSP-series power pack, which is sold separately.

Save Energy with Leviton’s Multi-Technology Sensors

The OSC10-M0W utilizes a complementary mix of passive infrared and ultrasonic protection to provide the best detection of new motion in a room as well as small motions of occupants already in the room. Passive infrared technology is ideal for initially turning lights on upon the detection of new motion in a room. Ultrasonic technology offers greater sensitivity, utilizing continuous reflective high frequency waves, optimal for keeping lights on in an occupied room. Leviton’s sensor uses multiple technologies to combine the benefits of both PIR and U/S for unsurpassed performance and dependability.

Advanced Features for Optimal Performance

Leviton’s OSC10-M0W occupancy sensor utilizes advanced technology to provide the best performance and optimized energy savings, as well as substantial customizability. The occupancy sensor features ambient light recognition, an internal light sensor that prevents electric lights from turning on when the room is lit by natural light, for further energy savings. An internal timer can be set to automatic, 30 seconds, or 30 minutes. An internal microprocessor within the occupancy sensor constantly analyzes, adjusts, and evaluates the sensitivity and time delay of the sensor, ensuring the best performance for each room it is installed in. Both manual settings and learned adjustments are safe and will not be lost, even in the event of a power outage. To save additional power, the sensor has a walk-through setting that decreases the time delay to two-and-a-half minutes when someone momentarily walks through an area.

Easy Installation, Wide Compliance, and Leviton Quality

With only three low-voltage wire connections necessary and a twist-lock sensor attachment, the OSC10 occupancy sensor is easy to install. The sensor is cUL/US-certified and is compliant with both the California Title 24 Energy Code and the ASHRAE Standard 90.1 requirements. Backed by more than a century of Leviton quality, the OSC10 is supported by a five-year limited warranty.

What's in the Box?

Bought 1 of these Leviton OSC10-M0W sensors with an OPB15-DW base. Overall I cringed a little at spending ~$100 for the pair compared to what you can get consumer-grade wall-switch-type sensors for, but am very happy with the purchase; you get what you pay for. Note that pricing of these varies considerably depending on where you buy them.Really like the technology of PIR for initial turn on, then both PIR + US for keeping on.Also really like all of the options and adjustments that can be made. Also happy that load is switched via relay vs electronic components; had trouble in the past with latter-type swithes being destroyed when the incandescent load burned out ($1.50 lamp but $30 sensor after less than a year). This also avoids problems with non-traditional loads: CFLs, LEDs. Also note the zero-cross switching technology in the base and power pack products.I put this up in an unfinished basement laundry room area which was impractical for a wall switch-type occupancy sensor. Was expecting problems as it is around a washer, dryer, dryer vent, sometimes-moving clothes hangers, furnace, and water heater. But it has performed perfectly. So I will be ordering another sensor+base for the stairwell/pantry area of the same room.Note that this is part of a line of sensors; check them out at leviton.com for different models that may match your situation better.

Good product and I appreciated the many settings. I ended up turning off the ultrasonic since it was in a commercial kitchen and the ultrasonic picked up noise from the refrigerators. However, it is now working quite well.

Beware to the buyer this particular item is a commercial grade low voltage detector. Meaning it will not run off of regular 110/120 voltage that most houses use in the US. I called up Leviton and found out that this particular sensor needs a transformer to lower the voltage so that it can be used. The transformer is quite large and will add to the space requirements for any ceiling mount installation. Basically, do you really want to cut out even more drywall? For a motion sensor with the transformer all in one unit, look at these units: ODC05-MDW, ODC10-MDW, ODC20-MDW.I had to return mine and because of my electrician already charging me the day for work, I had to find a local electrical supply store and get whatever sensor they had... Beyond angry... so now I have a subpar motion sensor hooked up. Will wait a while before upgrading to the Leviton which from the spec sheet using ultrasound and passive infrared sensors seems a lot better than the RAB motion sensor I now have.Buyer beware of the spec sheet.1/2/2014: just bought the ODC10-MDW and love it. Far better than the RAB I had... which btw failed 3 weeks in and kept the lights on all the time no matter how low the sensitivity was set. The dual technology is great. I was even having false set offs with this because of heat movement in my basement. So I lowered the IR sensitivity and raise the US sensitivity and it's perfect with no false set offs anymore. The only caveat is you can actually hear a very low shrill sound with the US. I do mean a VERY LOW sound. Since I use it in an area that is high traffic an little to no lingering it's not something that annoys me, but if it were to be in a room that I had to stay in for a while then it would annoy.
