I've never even SEEN one of these let alone heard of one. I've done my share of terminations and usually hold it in my left hand as I punch down with the tool in the right. It gets to be painful after a while.We just moved our business to a new location, and had another company do all the wiring for us. One of the guys had one of these, and I almost fell out of my chair when I saw it, so I was on Amazon here within minutes and had one delivered to my office the next day.This makes all the difference in terminating cables. Night and day. It's easy to use, and whether you hold it in your hand, put it on a table, a wall, whatever, it's holding things correctly and making things go SO much easier.If you punch down wires, get this. Period. You will not regret it for such a low price.

I bought two different tools like this. This one and the cable matters one. They both work well. This one is better to use if you want to hold it in your hand while doing the punch down, the Cable Matters one is better to set down on a surface for the job. Both are work the $, and i would recommend either one.

Really easy to use by inserting jack in designated spot. Comfortable in palm when using punch tool no pain or discomfort. The jack stays in place and the tool is easy to carry on you.

I'm not a professional installer, so maybe I'm not using this thing properly. But it doesn't seem to make the installation easier. In fact, I ended up tossing this to the side and found it easier to terminate my cat5 connections the old fashioned way... by holding it in my hand.Edited 7/26/2013:I am drastically revising my opinion of this item. It turns out that this tool IS helpful if you are using the correct style of Cat5 connectors. If you are using the high-density style cat5 snap-in jack, this tool works GREAT! It is the older style ones where the terminations are on the TOP of the jack that I was originally trying to use it for, in which case this tool is useless. But the high density style has the connectors on the BACK of the jack, which is what this termination tool will help you with.As such I have bumped my rating up to 4 stars. The only thing preventing it from 5 is the fact that it only works with certain styles of connectors. It also only shows you the color scheme for the "B" wiring method, not "A"

5 star product but it wears out!1) the rubbery outer strip, which makes it comfortable to use in handheld mode, degrades over 1-2 years and becomes gummy. i haven't been able to bring it back with 99% IPA "scrubbing" but I might try submersion.2) the color coding legend fades. i have a pretty hard time as-is telling blue from green but with the fading it's impossible for me. I have to use the legend in the quickport jack itself, which is fine. Also I used a sharpie to right B and G next to the proper ones.Still, for under $10 it's worth every penny. I am getting fed up with the gumminess so will replace mine soon.
