I don't normally leave reviews, however, in this case I felt obligated to help because this product has the potential to be great. I was very happy with the quality of the product and it worked very well for me....However - there are some very important things to note.1) You must use a water pressure regulator if your current pressure is not appropriate. The product clearly states that it operates between 20-50 PSI. If you do not know what your water pressure is, just buy an RV regulator for $12. Most of them are 40-50 PSI. A water pressure tester is also about the same price, so just get the regulator and avoid the problem. If you add a regulator when it is not needed, it will be fine. If you do not add a regulator and your pressure is too high, this unit will not be able to stop the flow of water, and it will continue to run.2) You cannot allow your hose to bend to the side, thus stressing the inlet/threaded portion of the housing. Over time, this type of stress will eventually destroy anything. If you cannot rig your hose from an overhead position, you will need to zip tie it, clamp it, or route it in such a way that it is coming straight down to the top of the housing (not pulling away from the inlet). You do not want your hose to be pulling or pushing with any resistance whatsoever.3) Before installing, buy a set of quick connect couplers. You will need both male and female ends initially. If the side connected to the float housing corrodes, no big deal. Just buy another $3 male end coupler when you replace it and throw the old one away. I would not screw your hose directly to the float housing. Brass will corrode to aluminum. Brass will not corrode to brass.4) If your pkg does not contain the rubber O-ring inside of the hose inlet, you will need to purchase one. Mine came with it, and I also purchased a pkg of replacements. I intend on replacing it as needed, like I do with all my hoses, etc.. A PM that will only cost you about $0.25/year.5) If you have livestock, they will find a way to destroy everything in time. Either build a guard around your float, spigot & hose, or - do something to prevent the animals from reaching the hose or any mechanical components. I was able to place my tank directly under the spigot, so I just built a cabinet around my spigot, hose and float. Another option would be to keep the portion of the stock tank (where the float is connected) on the outside of the pen, fence or stall.Hopefully this helps and you will have the same success I had with it. I figure, if I have to replace it every year, no problem! Just think of the peace of mind you will get from around $50/year worth of parts. If it lasts any longer, I will consider it a bonus!Mike, from Ohio, signing out ; )

Oh this saves me so much time! My last one one I had(different brand) busted and would let water spill over. I was having to manually fill it to prevent wasted water. Solid build and was easy to install. It does take a small amount of assembly, but that wasn’t too hard. The fit was perfect for my round trough and it functions like it should. I like the metal design and hopefully it will last through the winter.

We needed an overflow valve for our stock tanks. These are heavy duty, good quality. Easy to install , definitely saves water. Great value for the money

I've had this installed for several days now and it seems to work fine. I ordered this model since the item is metal rather than cheaper plastic. Plastic wouldn't hold up very well under the intense Florida sun. The float assembly itself is plastic which is shielded by the metal cover. I do wish it was also constructed of metal. The hole that the water flows thru to refill the tank is only about 3/16" which is fine for the refill function but I used a hose for the initial fill of my 100 gallon galvanized tank. If it last for at least a year then I'll purchase again. I think it's a good value over the cheaper plastic ones.
