I installed this latch on the inside top edge of the left door on my Rubbermaid shed, to keep it firmly in the closed position. I am not sure if this is simply a design flaw of these sheds or a manufacturing defect, but the door has never closed properly. While Rubbermaid provides a hole in what serves as the metal header of the door frame to accept a pin latch, as well as a wide slot in the top inner corner of the door to install the latch body, they do not provide a latch with the shed kit or even offer it in their website product listings. In fact, they don't even mention the existence of an accommodation in the door and header for installing such a latch. After years of the twin doors not fully closing properly, I finally ordered this pair of latches.Make sure you measure where you plan to install the latch and compare it to the latch dimensions, so you know it will fit. In my case I had to reduce the length of the latch pin - it was too long to pass under the header when the latch was installed, something I had not considered. The seller does provide an image in the product posting with the latch dimensions in both the open and closed position for this purpose. If you need to cut the pin like I did, be aware you will need a power tool to do it, if you do not want to spend all day trying to get through it with a hacksaw. I used an angle grinder with a metal grinding disc, and even that took a few minutes to do. This is a strong, good quality latch. The latches are sturdy and easy to operate, with a metal loop fingerhold to operate it. A spring on the shaft of the pin keeps it in the open position. You slide the pin against the pressure of the spring and turn it either left or right to allow the top of the finger loop to slip over a catch on either side and hold the pin in place. This works quite well to keep the pin securely in the closed position. This seems to be a well-made latch with quality metal that should hold up for years. Time will tell if it gets corrosion problems, but I am pleased with this purchase overall.

I installed one of these on my rear shed door to latch it closed. I only open this door from the inside, so I use the finger loop as a door handle to move the door to the closed position before latching. In the unlatched position it remains below the top edge of the door. In the locked position it seats deep into the latching hole I drilled in the sill plate. It was easy to install into plywood with just a simple screwdriver. It was a perfect fit for my application.

I needed these to replace my existing door hardware as those were past it's time and broke off around the same time. I installed these with ease. They are nice and solid heavy duty door bolts that secure nicely. It's so nice that it's actually a little tough to unlock the door it's installed on but I like that! They lock into place very securely.

I used these to secure one of my double doors on an addition to my shed. Works great keeping one door secure at all times unless I need it open.

Holds my shed doors closed yet is very simple to use and will stay disengaged without holding it up.
