This is far and away more secure than a regular hasp and lock or a hook or loop latch. The rod is much thicker making it harder to cut and the flap makes it impossible to get to the lock or shaft. You can also place a second lock on to make it even more secure. I swapped my storage unit lock to this one after several units had been burglarized. Criminals are inherently lazy, looking for easy marks. Making it difficult to break in is one of the best deterrents to becoming a theft victim.

This was easily installed this on my garage door. It's made of solid hardened steel and the lock shield should withstand all but the most determined thief. Definitely recommended!

This is probably the best door latch that I have yet to install. It is very rugged and there is no way to get at the mounting hardware. Also, my bolt cutters can not get around the padlock that secures it. Any lock/latch can be opened with the right tools and enough time but this one will make any perpetrator work very hard for that entry. I will undoubtedly purchase this item again in the future for other security projects.

I ordered to install on the inside of my garage door to slow down or prevent burglars from opening the door to remove garage or household items thru that door after gaining access. I chose this because it was tamperproof (bolts behind a padlocked cover). All alternatives I saw could be easily defeated by unscrewing the mounting bolts.The manufacturer confirms these can NOT be used on the interior of the door. I've notified Amazon that the description should say that to avoid future returns from the small number of purchasers who intended to install on the inside.
