This is my first laser distance meter, and I’m very impressed by how many features and functions are packed into such an affordable unit. I have the model with a 100 meter range, and though I’ve only used it in indoors settings so far, the measurements have been accurate and reliable.I've looked at different models available on Amazon, and found that this one has pretty much has all the features of models that cost more than twice as much. In fact, there was a bit of a learning curve to familiarize myself with all the extra functions this has. Now that I understand all the things this is capable of, I appreciate the device even more.One basic thing I first found out about this device is that it measures from the bottom of the unit rather than from the top where the laser is emitted. You can easily switch this by short pressing the ‘Unit’ button (a long press changes the unit of measurement). Also keep in mind that this setting resets to default when the device is turned off.Another feature I find really useful in different situations is the device’s ability to take continuous measurements. This is activated with the button that has an arrow symbol below the laser button. I use this mode a lot when I need to adjust my aim and figure out the correct distance.In addition to measuring basic distance, this device can also calculate area and volume of a space. It also has the feature to calculate heights and distances that are difficult to directly measure using Pythagorean geometry.I’ve used this in many different settings, and each time, I’m impressed by its convenience, accuracy, and all of its extra features. It’s also built like a tank, with a heavy-duty plastic outer shell that feels incredibly durable. I expect to get a lot of use out of this for many years.

This is my review of LASELION LT70 Laser Distance Meter – 70m (229ft) Range. I ordered this product to try it out for material estimating in my construction work. Items such as paint, floor coverings and base boards are a few examples of what I would use this measuring tool for. I tested both the distance measurement and the square foot and found it does have a fairly accurate measuring system but not exact. I found it to be about .125†off in my measurements over a 15 and 24-foot distance. The area square footage was subsequently off also. This to me is close enough for estimating. I would not use this type of device to measure a board that needs to be cut to a specific size, but then again that is not the intended use for these tools. Since it produced the results, I was expecting, I would rate it 4 stars.

Laser measure devices are a great tool to quickly get measurements of a room or space (so long you are not measuring a curved space--you can still do that though through geometry). Some features that I appreciate: the laser spot to know what you are measuring to; measuring from the front or the heel of the device; the included bubble levels for vertical and horizontal controls; and view of last few laser measures (similar to my multi-line scientific calculator). The device comes with a soft case, a leash, batteries, and instructions. It would be nice if it included a 1/4 inch threaded hole to use with a tri-pod or mono-pod but not a deal breaker. Construction is mostly ABS plastic and is decent for sturdiness. It's a quick way of getting measurements without using a limited distance tape measure.
