The key was reprogrammable with the help of a locksmith on a 2015 Ford C-Max Energi. A MyKey attempt failed, and online instructions for ways to program the third key if the other two keys were present also didn't work (the locksmith started with those). Cost $125 to have the key coded and the spare key laser-cut.

I have a scan tool to program keys, and although the procedure completed, failed, then I tried again and it failed again, so the key would not successfully program. Was about to return it when I decided to check the battery. Battery included is junk. But after replacing, programming process worked. Maybe should have the battery separate, not already installed, but did seem to be very poor quality. But in total, much cheaper option if you have something to program it.

Replace the battery! They always show up with a dead battery. Programmed it using the Universal programmer that plugs into the OBD2 port and an app on the phone.

On a 2013 Ford c-max Energi, can not program as administrator key, only programs as a mykey restricted use key, some functions do not work such as touch entry. Can not reprogram as an administrator even with 2 administrator key present.
