I bought this for a friends mail box where the plastic latch had broken so the door did not close. These latches are hard to find but this is thin metal and will not break like the plastic. Mailbox was mounted in blocks so it saved a lot of money not having to replace it.

Simple mailbox with a stupid plastic latch was installed in our home at the time we purchased it. Between the Oklahoma wind, post-person delivery slamming the door, and hot summer sun , the latch broke within a year of use. Finding an all-metal latch here online was GREAT. It was easy to install, and seems to work flawlessly. I am very pleased with this upgrade... Good outcome!

It is a good sturdy product, but I had to modify with washers because while the screws had big enough heads to not go through the holes, the nuts were not. Not a huge issue, but still frustrating, thus the 4 stars instead of 5. Had they included washers, 5 star for sure.

I would have thought that mailbox latches would be somewhat standardized, but this is much smaller than the existing latch and of course does not line up with the existing screw holes. I managed to Frankenstein a temporary compromise using parts of the old latch, but this product is thin and small. I will need to find the correct latch at some point. I don't recommend this product.

Poor quality metal, would never buy this product again or from this seller. THEN when I returned it, they charged me AGAIN instead of a giving me my refund. They did this TWICE. They owe me 25.66.

I had to drill a new hole for one of the screw points because the top latch didn’t perfectly align with my mailbox, but it fit the new hole just fine and now the whole latch makes the mailbox door feel like it did when it was new.
