I only needed one, but this was how I needed to purchase them. I use this as a laser light on my longarm that shines through my hopping foot, giving me a direct beam to where I need to measure with my hopping foot or where I need to begin my stitching. I hooked it up to a small battery, which gets fastened to my needle bar when required. It is only there while I am using it. Other than that, I put it aside because it is not part of my machine.

arrived in excellent condition and well packaged. Using these as add-ons for my laser engravers to help set the home position on the work surface. At 5VDC they are easy to drive with either a wall-wart or from extra power on your laser engraver. Just add a power supply/On-Off switch and mounting bracket to suit your needs and you can get your engraver aligned much faster.

The red dot provided by these is too large for precise work.

The laser diodes work great, however no electrical specs. After purchasing 100pcs of current limiting resistors found out the laser diodes came with a 91 ohm resistor built in. My choice of limiting resistor is higher so I have to compensate to get less power, lower intensity output. Specs did not mention that the diffuser lens is removable. I found out as I was installing them and noticed some of the lens caps were loose. Removed the lens cap and found a spring inside. So check the lens cap make sure they are tight.

Alignment aside which is my issue in this case, you can see the lasers flare badly in the lens on a number of the modules.

The laser beam is not aligned with the housing. In other words, if you put the cylindrical housing in a hole, the laser beam does not point along the axis of the hole, but is instead skew to the axis of the hole. The laser spot moves in a circle as you rotate the laser housing. This is not good if you need your laser beam aligned with or perpendicular to some reference. However, they are very inexpensive and the four that I have tried have all turned on.

The focus on these is supposed to be adjustable, but all of the ones I received are locked with thread locker. Broke one trying to adjust it. Now I have 19 diodes that are completely useless to me because some genius decided to lock the focus. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MENTIONED IN THE ITEM DESCRIPTION!
