This will fit in a HF Chicago electric jack hammer (the big one). You will need to sand down the gray coating on the makita bit to shiny metal (about an 1/8 inch), but then it fits nicely. Just grease it up good. It’s well made, durable, and digs fast.

I've purchased this spade several times and it works fantastic for digging in rocky soil, however my most recent purchase does not fit into the jackhammer. I have the same Bauer jackhammer and purchased the same spade I had before, I'm not sure what happened but I am now forced to buy another brand of spade. Come on Makita.

Id like to send my old spade that I bought (the wrong one) back to place of purchase. How do I do it? I used the spade to dig A trench through hard soil. It works just fine. Thanks. Seasons greetings!

Tappy tap taped it in to the end of this Baur. Time will tell if it breaks. Also i think the dewalt may be identical but, $25ish cheaper. Other reviews said they took a grinder to the edges of the hex to make it fit but, the makita spade i got was already rounded so it tappy tap taped right in.

This fits perfectly in the Bauer from China via HF and accepts the same 1 1/8" hex bits. I have not actually put it to the test yet. I'm looking to use it for transplanting trees and digging in decomposed granite soil. I'm a bit concerned (no pun intended) about the problems described in other reviews about the quality of the metallurgy. It looks like a genuine Makita product to me based on the labeling on the shaft. If it isn't that would be misrepresentation and I don't think Amazon would do that. I will update this with further comment after doing some digging.

Exactly what I was looking for and much less expensive than other sites.

Solid! It can take a beating. I have used the unit half a dozen times now , hard dirt ,clay & rock don’t slow it down. I was expecting to switch it out when I hit something solid in the ground but nope! Eats right thru it.
