I admit to being somewhat frugal. Okay... I'm a complete cheapskate! Rather than spending $45 or more on a "nicer" armrest for my mandolin, I ordered this one for about a third of that price. The hardware is identical, and you can choose either chrome or gold color to match the hardware on your instrument. The wood is high quality... either rosewood or ebony... but the sharp edges and hard finish really defeat the purpose of why you want an armrest.A few minutes with sandpaper... first a coarse grit for primary shaping, and then a fine grit for smoothing and finishing... and I have the beautiful addition you see in the photo. After sanding to my preferred shape, I rubbed in just a touch of lemon oil from a paper towel.Even though it took some work on my part to make this armrest work the way I wanted, I give the product a full five stars because of the quality. The hardware is the same type used for violin chin rests, and wood (I have both rosewood and ebony) is truly beautiful once the factory finish is sanded away!

First one I received wouldn’t screw together. I contacted Amazon, returned the first one and received this as a replacement. It installed perfectly and does what it’s supposed to do.

After purchasing my mandolin, an armrest was needed to avoid unnecessary wear on the finsh from my hairy arm so I purcahsed this one. It looks and works great. The wood compliments my instrument and the hardware is classy looking. It was easy to install and there you have it. All of this for a reasonable price, too.

JUNK! - The mounting "Turnbuckles" are not spaced properly making it had to align and tighten on to Mandolin. Once you fight through that, you will find that only a couple of threads engage so mounting is not very secure. Edge of Rest is NOT contoured, so it DOES NOT improve comfort on your arm, which is the primary function.

The price is better than any other for what it is. It looks good and it works well. Raises my forearm to a better position for picking. Relieves any discomfort from resting my arm on a sharp edge. Don’t pay 50 dollars for the same item. At 15 dollars it’s a steal.

I'll be able to sand down the outer edge to comfort, and I have parts to make it fit on my not-exactly-thick A style circa 2005. I'm glad I bought this now, the old girl I am working on is thicker (and so much more history!) so I'll spend the 60-70 for a nice craftsman-made arm rest for that one.

It was a little tricky to assemble the device at first but with some adjustments I was able to assemble it properly and place it on the mandolin. The device fit the mandolin perfectly and actually once the device was in place on the mandolin, It made playing the mandolin easier by raising my right arm up slightly for a better angle for easier access to the finger board. So far I am satisfied with the product and would recommend evaluating the product.
