About this item

  • UNI Safety Payload means your gear is safer than ever. We updated how we measure payload for this product. Content on this page may differ from that on the box you receive; detail here is correct
  • 360° ROTATION: This tripod head offers maximum creative freedom allowing a 360° rotation in complete safety, thanks to the conical locking system with self-adjusting bearings
  • SAFE: The intelligent safety lock gives an extra level of protection by ensuring that the quick release lever cannot fully open while you're changing the angle
  • COMPATIBILITY: The 3D Junior Tripod Head has a standard ¼" mount, making it ideal for 35mm and light to medium format cameras
  • LIGHTWEIGHT: Weighing only 550g it is extremely lightweight and, with an operating height of 10 cm, it is extremely compact, elegant and easy to handle

A self-adjusting conical bearing locking system allows 360° rotation on both the vertical and horizontal plane. This is the ideal head for 35mm and light to medium format work. Camera attachment: 1/4" Optional Plates: 625, 323, 394, 357, 577. This replaces the Bogen Manfrotto 3025.

Junior may not be the best name for this head. While it is by no means BIG, it is not small and light weight either. I got the Bogen version for a really good price on here, and I have spent some time testing it out. It is very solid, holds like a rock, and for me, it stays out of my way while shooting. One of the reasons I chose it was the small adjustment knobs. I am a big guy, and getting up to my viewfinder with the handles of other models can be a bit tricky. This head solves that problem. Best thing about it though is when you lock it down it stays locked down until you choose to unlock it, unlike some other heads I have used. The one downside for me is the lack of a quick release, but I have already ordered an adapter to solve that issue.

The ball head I had that worked fine for a lightweight camera with a short lens did not work well for my new camera that is larger, heavier, and has a long telephoto lens. I decided to buy a pan/tilt head to help with that, but I was overwhelmed with the options. I didn't want anything too complex or expensive, and the handles that stick out of so many tripod heads looked cumbersome. Then I found the Junior 056 tilt head. It's so perfect. Very neat and simple appearance and mechanism. Large knobs that tighten well without handles. I can still pan by using the knobs to rotate the setup. I love that I can leave the knob that keeps the camera level to the horizon tightened, loosen the other two, and use my camera as a combo of handheld and tripod. I can track birds in flight while remaining level to the horizon and having some stability. The lack of quick release made me a little apprehensive, but I don't mind it at all, even prefer it now. Quick release can be too fidgety. Having to release the plate, thread it in, then lock in place can take longer than just threading the camera right onto the tripod head. The big knob helps screw the camera on quickly and easily.

I'm considerably less enthusiastic about this head than the other reviewers. I purchased it for a specific purpose: to take panoramas. To take architectural panoramas, the camera should be LEVEL. I really have a hard time leveling a ball head. This unit allows all three axes to be adjusted independently, and I find that much easier. And it's much lighter and more compact than a regular panhead with levers. This panhead has one major problem. It supposedly supports more than 6 lbs, but the adjusting clamps adjust from firmly tight to very loose with a very small turn. If the load is not balanced, the camera can flop quickly. This occurs with loads that are considerably less than 6 lbs. Most of the time a camera mounted on a tripod is not properly balanced. If you like to fiddle with the tilt adjustments after setting up the camera on the head, you may be better off with a regular panhead. Here's one that supports more than 26 pounds on a good tripod. Price is only $5 more than this head.

This product was the perfect fit for me, as I'm not a professional and the simplicity was great. Extremely well made, I couldn't have ask for better at many times the price.

Nice, well-made low profile head for FX or DX digital cameras with long telephoto lenses. Easy maneuverability and ease of handling. Very sturdy and well made.

A friend recommended the Manfrotto head for a gift for my wife. My wife loves it. It is small and compact; it fits on the tripod head nicely and does not get caught while walking in the brush. My wife likes that the unit moves up and forward for macro shoots; you do not need to angle the tripod forward. .

The position of the head shifts when the knobs are tightened, throwing off your composition. You can either live with it if your compositions don't need to be critical (but if they didn't, why would you use a tripod) or compensate for it before tightening down. I'll grant that this unit is light and simple, with little to bend or break as compared to a usual 3-way head with long handles sticking out every which way.

This head was to replace an older design which had been in use for 15 years. I find the knobs on this head much more positive with gloves on. The engineering is good, the balance is right, and the degree of twist from movement (with drag) to lock is just enough. Purchased to perform with a Carbon fibre tripod and a Canon G10 I cannot fault it. An unbeatable head at the price.

The headline tells it all. Don't know if the one that I got was lemon, but the pan movement was particularly jerky and stiff. There was no need even to mount it on a tripod and load a camera on it to test it to experience the stiffness. Definitely, with the weight of the camera, it wouldn't be better.Three stars and not less only because I am not sure if it was not defective.
